I do not believe mental health illnesses ever truly 'go away'. I do believe we can learn to cope with it better, that and learn to cope with what the world throws at us better.
One of the things depression can be prone to doing is reduce our coping mechanisms, which can cause us to feel as though we can not cope with anything, even at times simple tasks such as getting up and dressed. I do believe it is possible to relearn these things and reach a point where the depression is less imposing on your lifestyle and ability to function.
*hugs* hope you can reach that stage soon
If the Human brain were so simple that we could understand it, we would be so simple that we wouldn't.
My, my. You've totally mirrored me. I have had depression now for 7-9 years. I seem to think it is never going to go away. I spose it won't, maybe i will get depressed easily.
I dont know.
Shame huh?
thank you, Lily, for saving mummy's life*.
You are my one and only, you can wrap your fingers round my thumb and hold me tight, and you'll be alright.
It don't think it will ever completly go away, but it can get easier to deal with at times, I hope so anyway, I often think the same thing as you've said, take care
Sometimes you just have one episode, sometimes you have many, and sometimes you have chronic depression.
It just depends on you. If you feel its gone at some point in your life, talk with your doctor and see about reducing your medication to see what happens.
My tablets (prozac) have certainly reduced the depressive symptoms but I'm hoping that CAT therapy will have some effect on the feelings I still have. Funny I feel a bit numbed by the tablets and feel they do not bring you to happiness just numb some of the deep sadness. I hope you sort out your meds and start getting some effect from them.
"I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry. And I know you do the same too so we are not that different you and I.
You'll be surprised to know how far you can go from the point where you thought it was the end.
i have been told that it can go away by some poeple and others haves said it wont. i guess it depends if it clincial depression- a cemichal imbalance- or not. im in the same boat have had depresion on and offf ofr the past seven years. i dont knwo what i beleive about it going away but i do know that over time ive jsut got to find better and new ways to cope and know the warning signs so i can be proactive and not let it get too bad. hope this helps.
The BRAVEST thing
I ever did was CONTINUING MY LIFE when I wanted to die.
I think that some people have a genetic predisposition to suffering from episodes of Major Depression, and that's always going to be with them. But, you can recover from episodes of Major Depression and then the important thing to do is to learn strategies to protect yourself against depression, and that can make it go away.

You mirror me, too. I've asked my doctor that question and he said it'd never go away, but eventually when it comes again it will be of a lesser intensity and it won't last as long.
