Just an idea, but could this work?
I know it sounds stupid, but there are issues that I, and I'm sure other people have, where they wan't to talk about things, but don't want people to know it's them...
There's something going on for me atm, and nobody else knows, but I couldn't post a thread on it, because i dont want people to know those things about me, but I still would want to talk about them...
so would it be possible to have an anonomous board? where poeple can post what they want, and feel comfortable?
I think I understand what you mean...like where your user name and details are essentially hidden from those viewing the thread?
If this is possible I would imagine Mod's would still have to be able to see who you were, in case there are incidents of rule breaking; so it wouldn't be completely anonymous. But then, I'm not anything to do with that side of things so I don't know how it all works.
Could you create a different account and post using that. No one has to know it's you, it would feel anonymous, then you can go back to your regular account for everything else?
i dont think mods would agree because of potential rule-breaking.
i think the problem with this site is that you come here initially to feel anonymous & be completely open with essentially, strangers. people you don't know, who you've never met, you have no reason to lie or feel judged.
but then after a while, you make friends. you meet those people. they become important to you.
and suddenly you don't feel anonymous anymore. you don't feel comfortable posting a lot of personal things because you know your friends will read them and that is just as uncomfortable and painful as telling your real life friends who you came here to avoid telling, in ways.
blah blah.
Yeah, obviously the mods would see them i guess
I've thought of making a second account, but then, in the past theres been stuff with people i know having two accounts, and things have gotten messy, and i just feel a bit reluctant to do it, if that makes any sense :/

I have a second account, and whenever I use it (which isn't much) I always start my post with "I have another main account, but I'm using this one to retain anonymity" blah blah blah.
That way, you're not lying to anyone, pretending to be anyone new, you're just not saying who you are.
Like Nymph said, I have another account on here that only a couple of people know about because I have accidentally slipped up under that name while in chat and told them but other than that no one knows, and the people who do know I know wouldn't care about what I post or probably even remember that it is me under that name.
I too always start off with "I have another username, I am using this one because I do not want to disclose the information about to be in this blog to everyone on RYL who knows who I am". No one seems to mind and I am always offered the same amount of love and support that I would have been if I posted under my other name.

I have been on a forum that had a set aside area for member to post under a group anonymous name, with the user's IP address logged with the server (so admins/high up mods could know who posted what in case of rule-breaking) and posts were reviewed before they could be seen on the main site. It worked pretty well, but it was a lot of work on the mod's part.
As it sits, I think it'd be best to go with an alternate account. :D

what about being able to make your screename invisible in the thread creation page? mods would still be able to see it, and you would have the choice to remain invisible if you replied to the thread. mand x
