Vitamin D

This is sort of random, but I noticed that the vitamin suppliment I take doesn't have much calicium in it (10% of the recommended daily value), and since I doubt I'm getting enough from my diet I thought I should get a calicium suppliment as well. But all the calicium sppliments I could find also had Vitamins D and K in them, and K is fine since there isn't any in the other one, but the other one has 100% of the daily value of Vitamin D, so if I took both then I'd be getting double the recommended daily value. For water soluble vitamins that's fine, but since Vitamin D is a fat soluble one I know it's not good to regularly have way too much of it, but I assume that there's some margin between the recommended daily amount and the potentially toxic dose, I'm just not sure how much. So is it bad to take double the recommended daily value of Vitamin D every day, or is it okay to take both?

It should be possible to get a Calcium supplement that does not have Vitamin D added to it. You may have to go to a natural foods store to find it though, or look in the organic/natural section at your local grocery.

Vitamin D is also absorbed through your skin from sunlight.

While the guidelines for daily vitamin in take are really just guidelines, there are no hard and fast rules about them, you are right that it is not always best to be taking 200% of the recommended daily intake. However, toxicity is not reached until a significantly higher number.

The U.S. Dietary Reference Intake for Adequate Intake (AI) of vitamin D for infants, children and men and women aged 19–50 is 5 micrograms/day (200 IU/day).

Now if you are ED, you may need to speak with a nutritionist or doctor. There are many other vitamins, minerals and medications that are fat soluble, and an ED can affect all of those, not just Vitamin D. A nutritionist should be able to tell you how to achieve the right balance of vitamins and minerals and what is safe for you.

Somehow I guess they were wrong.

I'm sure there are calicium suppliments without vitamin D in them, but I'm really bad at swallowing pills, and narrowing it to chewable ones I couldn't find any. I think it's kind of silly it's in there at all considering that most people get all the Vitamin D they need just from going outside for like 15 minutes or something, but I just wanted to know if I'd be hurting myself if I took both suppliments at once. But I'll try to find ones that don't have Vitamin D in them.

I'm not going to talk to a nutritionist or a doctor about it for various reasons, but is it not just that if I'm not eating enough I wouldn't be getting enough vitamins and minderals? It kind of sounded from what you said like there might be more than that...

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are asking me.

Fat soluble vitamins and minerals need fat in order to be absorbed into your system. If you don't have enough fat, then it doesn't matter how much of those vitamins you take, you will never be able to absorb them.

You could be getting enough vitamins and minerals, but if you aren't getting enough protein, or fat, or electrolytes or any other number of things, you still could have health problems.

There are people who are overweight who have died of malnutrition (people with EDs) because they were staving or purging and got their nutrition out of whack.

That's pretty much what I was asking. The other thing I was sort of worried about is if having less body fat would make the toxic dose lower because more of it would end up in the liver (which from my understanding is mainly how it ends up being toxic) since it wouldn't be absorbed elsewhere, but I don't really know enough about how vitamins are absorbed or processed to know if that even makes sense let alone if it's actually a potential problem. Either way I don't think I'm enough under weight that it would be a problem other than just that I'm not getting enough vitamins (or other nutrients) from my diet.
