GRRRR Access Team issues

Right, so about 6 weeks ago I was referred in my uni town for CBT and group therapy. I've just gotten back from easter break, and received a letter, saying they tried to call me (while I was out of the country), and since I didn't pick up they're going to discharge me! Can they really discharge someone for not picking up the phone? It's been a couple of weeks since I've been away, but do you reckon I can talk my way around this? I shouldn't be penalized because I'm a student... I've left them a message explaining this and they haven't gotten back to me yet. I don't want to go through the waiting all over again because of this.

Hm. Ringing again sounds good, perhaps even pop down there yourself to explain?

they should keep you on the books hun.
see what they say but i'd imagine once the situation is explained it'll get sorted fine.

they shouldn't discharge you for being out of country!
Ring them again and make sure your not put through the wait again.

They will have sent a standard letter, as unless you informed them of dates you were unavailable they won't know why you didn't get in touch. Give them another ring and ask to talk to the relevant person. How about talking to the person who referred you?

I'm sure if you explain they won't see it as a discharge, although you may still have to wait a while.

I went through a similar situation when on the waiting list to see a psychologist. I sent away the letter confirming that I would be attending but they didn't get it and discharged me. I simply phoned them and said that I did send the letter and did want to attend and they put me back on the waiting list. I hope that they are able to give you a place right away and that you aren't put back on the list, hopefully they allow some time for people to get back to them once they have been told that they are being discharged.
