no, i highly doubt it.
actually, i think they only do that sort of thing when they're first testing the medication. is yours already, like, "on the market?"

honestly, i would try not to worry about it. easier said than done, i know, but just remember your doctor is there to help you and he or she is going to do what he or she feels is best for your treatment. *hugs*

I've been convinced that I was being placebo meds before, but they explained to me they're legally not allowed to. They only use placebos to test the drug in trials. :)

No, they cant legally give placebos unless you were in a drug trial, which you would be fully informed about and your consent gained beforehand.

(Is SucseroMySweet posting as mike) They aren't legally allowed to give you placebos. However, they can give you "dummy" dosages though. This is where they give you a medication, but not a high enough dosage for it to do much at all. The reason they do this is that sometimes belief that the med is working will make you feel better. This is called the placebo effect.
I have been on dummy dosages before, and if you want any advice or just to chat about it, don't hesitate to PM me (SucseroMySweet)
Wish you all the best

This is correct. They can't give you placebos without you knowing re the possibility.

Take care hun and speak to your dr re your concerns.

What are you on? Perhaps its a low starting dose or something? Just because other meds have made you ill doesn't mean they ALL will, they do work in different ways and affect different parts of the brain and suchlike. Surely feeling normal is better than feeling ill? Try not to let it bother you, just let it do what it's going to do.

I understand re the no side effects thing but trust me, you don't want any. i have recently switched my ad b/c of side effects and my ap was a killer re sedation to begin with but just b/c I am not effected that much by those side effects now does not mean they are no longer working, just that my body can deal with them. sorry, waffling.

Not everyone gets side effects on medication. Just because you havent this time doesnt mean its a placebo! It just means your body is coping with the medication.

I've heard about those before...

Hun, they can not give you plecebo's unless you have agreed to take part in a medical trial. It may be that you are on a low starting dose, I was on a low dose when I first started my meds and did not get any side effects until they upped the dose and it got into my system fully.

*hugs* Try not to get too worked up over it.
