Impulsive Buy's ??

Hey everyone,

Yesterday I bourght an iPhone. I dont really need one or want one and it serves no purpose to me as i pretty much dont communicate with anyone on a social level, and i already have a phone anyhoo.

So i dont really know why. the idea just came into my head and i went in town and bourght one it was just an impulsive urge. I dont really have £400 quid just to throw about, as i have no job and only dla as income.

I have some savings but that was going to be for a car. I feel like i just NEED to buy things and spend lots of money.

Im not manic infact im very opposite. Im feeling very depressed, i feel like its one of the worst times ive had. I am planning to attempt to kill myself in the near future so that maybe a reason why im thinking about spending alot of money.

I dont know, it was just very very impulse and i feel like im going to buy more useless things soon. x

I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.

I relate, I often do things like that.

Can you return the phone to the shop?

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Impulsivity does not always have to be linked with mania.. although you could potentially be mixed?

I would say take the phone back, especially since you can not justify the cost and can put the money towards something you will be more likely to use.

If spending is becoming an issue, is there anyone you can give your debit cards et al to for safe keeping until the urges to spend have diminished, that, or ensure you have someone level headed with you whenever you go shopping, as they can help disuade you from impulse buying.

*hugs* I know what it is like, I get the same thing at times...

Here's something you might want to check out:

Compulsive shopping/ Shopping addictions
(Real Mental Health is linked quite a few times in the recommendations section, so I hope it's okay to post this)

I've had an impusive shopping day today too *huggles*
I'm also not manic but like robien said, I'm quite 'mixed' at the moment.
Like Control freak said, try and take the phone back.
Keep your creditcards/debit cards at home and only take as much money as you need out with you.
Also making a shopping list can help.

This will help

This is what you do. Everytime you buy something impusively you should save the receipt and the box/packaging. This way you can return it after you realize what a foolish purchase you had made. Get yourself into the habit of "Impulse Returning".

Oh god I do stuff like this all the time and its scaring me :-/

I'm not working right now and my income is DLA and income support
the only reason I have tons of money to spend is because the DLA and income support people gave me loads of backpay

but recently I've been spending around £100 pounds a day most days, just on random crap I don't need

I managed to spend £900 in a week once (on total crap)
My sister keeps saying to me that its ok because I have the money
point is all that money is my savings and its nearly all gone :-S

can't stop myself
