When I saw this commercial, I frankly could not believe this made it on the air. Does anyone else find this extremely tacky and innappropriate? I mean really? Bushes? I just think it's sending a terrible message to women, and especially young girls. I am disgusted by it, and I don't find it funny at all...It's just putting that much more unneccessary pressure on young girls and pushing the male ideal on women. "Free your skin?" Yeah right.
PS: I'm not against "personal grooming," but I think that's a personal choice for adults, not a f*cking trend or "style", as this commercial makes it out to be.

I dont know whether it would make adults shave if they didn't want to, but i can see it influencing young girls
there is enough pressure on us to be shaved bare down there without adverts like this helping out

To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse.
To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.

I thought it was funny but the irony of it was that I saw it when the Sex Ed show was on and it was asking 14/15 year old girls whether they felt pressure to groom "down there" and most of the girls did so I can see how it might make them feel even more pressured by this advert.

But like....its a good comparison really....thats why they use it!

Honestly, it's a pretty good advertisement, rather tastefully done IMO. It doesn't really suggest you shave everything off, it's suggests keeping your lady bits tidy if you so desire - made easy by having both your razor and trimmer combined in one (presumably waterproof?) device.

Yes, it's true that because of the images set out in porn, there is an assumption that guys want a girl to be hairless when it comes to lady bits. But I also know there's pressure from women to keep tidy so there isn't hair hanging out of your swimsuit. I truly think most of the pressure comes when girls start developing and have pool in gym. Kids can be down right cruel with taunting as it is, and then to have a bit of hair hanging out of your swimsuit when you're at that awkward, insecure point in life? Does anyone else see where I'm going with this? It's not all the ad companies and the "guy ideal".
I don't find a problem with it. It's just an advert at the end of the day and I know I'd be interested in buying one some day.
And it's not the advert that puts pressure on young girls, I think guys they're having sex with possibly do that! From what girls said on the Sex Education Show S Pornography the girls all waxed/shaved etc down below because they felt they needed to to attract guys.
And women have the right to have shaver adverts as well! I'm sure it doesn't put pressure on young girls at all! Otherwise don't you think they would have had teenagers doing the advert?
Have watched the video twice and don't really see a problem with it at all.

It's just an advert. Suggesting women shave their bikini line is no more "innapropriate" than suggesting women shave their legs.
Having pubic hair burst out of your swim suit is just as unnatractive as having armpit/leg hair BUT it is a personal choice. If you don't want to shave then don't, if you do want to shave go ahead!
No one should do anything for the sole purpose of pleasing someone else, but that doesn't mean the choice to do these things shouldn't be there! Get over it.
As a guy, I'm wondering why no young girls find it patronising that everyone seems to assume watching an ad is going to screw their body image over and make them shave obsessively for the rest of their lives. It's an advert, it sells a product. Nothing wrong with it at all. It's not saying you have to shave, or that it is disgusting not too, it's just trying to sell a product.

Surely personal choices are influenced, even if subtlely, by trend? What is wrong with trends and style anyway? Following a fashion for shaving down below is no different to dying hair black or getting an emo-flick really. The advert isn't even creating such a trend anyway, it's simply following one.

If young girls are old enough to comprehend sex, then they can cope with this. Plus, for much younger girls (pre-teen age), i doubt they'd understand the significance of the bushes. I think the advert is pretty good, it's not corrupting young minds, for the girls that are anxious over their bodily hair, i think the advert is a great - and discreet - way of conveying that they can manage the issue. It's not pushing male ideals either, many women wax or shave because they want to.
Personal grooming is involved in trends and style; when personal grooming encompasses cosmetics, skin treatments, hair 'management' and general appearance, how can waxing or shaving suddenly have crossed the line?

The way I see it, most girls these days want to keep the area tidy anyway. Times change and there is nothing we can do about that. This ad offers an easy tool to do so. If they don't want to, they won't do it because of an ad. Give them SOME credit. They do have minds of their own. As for the few who don't, well they need to develop one or they're screwed in today's society anyway.
