when words run out

yesterday my friend learned of some distressing news which sent them into a depressive spiral
i kept chattin to them on msn - trying to keep them busy until their partner returned home from work
but inevitably the time came when they said they had to go
and im pretty sure self-harm was on their mind

i had nothin useful left to say .. except 'try to keep yourself safe'
and i felt bad knowin there was nothin i could do and that there were still at least 3-4 hrs left before someone else would be in the house

this mornin? i am wonderin how they are

I'm sure you helped chatting, you couldn't have done anymore. Sometimes we can't do everything, but little things go a long way. I hope your friend is okay and please don't beat yourself up over something you had so little control over. You were there for your friend and he/she knows it, that is the most important thing, hugs, Hannah.

You did all that you could do, and it's great that you were there to support your friend. I hope that everything is ok. Take care of yourself.

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.

You didn't come this far just to come this far.

sometimes i dont recognise my needs until afterwards .. when i feel kinda wasted
you know?
after i posted here on sat, things went downhill some more for my friend - but luckily it was the weekend so their partner was home, and i talked to them for a bit

supporting someone with depression has its tought times, but i do it cos i care
but this has drained me a lot

Yeah I totally understand, sometimes we spend so much of our lives looking after everyone elses needs that we kinda forget our own needs. It is hard supporting someone who is going through a rough time and can be incredibly draining but remember its ok to need some time out for yourself too. Take care
