very confused
ok so the last time i saw my psychiatrist who looks after my care within the adolesent mental health team, she said that i fit every single criteria for borderling personality disorder but she then said i dont have it.
i really dont understand how someone can fit all of it but not have it.
any ideas on what the hell she was going on about???

It could be because you aren't old enough to be diagnosed, most people wont diagnose BPD in people under 18.
Or you may fit the symptoms, just they aren't severe enough for a diagnosis. This would mean you show traits.
The best thing to do is ask your psychiatrist to clarify.

Sorry, I am very new to this - finally diagnosed today after over a year with the services. From what I have managed to gather today, aswell as the whole under 18 thing, if the traits are not such that they are adversely effecting other areas of your life eg occupational, social, etc, a diagnosis may not be made. If you have questions though you should ask your dr. Haver you been referred onto adult services? What support are you getting at the moment?

Heyy,
Sounds very confusing. Though as already said, the best thing to do would be to ask your psych. Take care. xo.

This is a complete guess, but I would have thought the severity and length of the symptoms woud be a factor - e.g. just about everyone will have a couple of days where they have the symptoms of depression (because of the end of a relationship or something like that), but then they bounce back. It only becomes a dignosis if it goes on and the person doens't bounce back.

I don't think that they like to diagnose you unless it's necessary for treatment and so on.
As you're 18 soon it probably isn't the age thing.
Definitely ask about it!

Should've said something but I've said it enough.
