Triggering (Suicide) - If life is pain, then why live?
As far as I can tell, mearly living causes pain to just about everybody
Commiting one of the seven 'deadly' sins will cause people pain, and since our society is built on greed...
Seriously, if the seven sins became deadly, not a single person would survive...
And in that, it makes life completely meaningless.
Humans cannot achieve anything without hurting somebody, and everything we 'achieve' only brings more pain to people.
Therefore, to live is to feel pain...
And with the only things that make life ever slightly more bearable, friendship and love, will both cause you pain, as neither one will last forever. Just by knowing that you are hurt.
So if all life is guaranteed is death and hurt, then why live?
I'm not going to be the one giving great advice on this, because honestly, I have to agree with you.
The only thing I can tell you is that living life is worth it in the end- you can accomplish so many things, and although it may seem like you wont be recognized, you are.
The periods of love and friendship in life are among the best you'll ever experience, because as soon as one ends, another begins.
Please hang in there.
If you ever need to talk about anything, please send me a message.
Scratch that- I've sent you a message.
In the future, remember that you can send me one, no matter the reason.

Also:
I'm not a religious person, but if I was, I would tell you that although those seven sins are considered 'deadly,' God gives forgivness to those who ask for it. God brings happiness to a lot of people, which helps them deal with the pain.
Yes, there is going to be pain in the road of life. But you can't view it like this. There are different types of people: those who spend their whole lives worrying about pain and hurting others, and those who look at the positives and live happy, successful lives.
You mentioned seven sins, so I'm assuming you're referring to Christianity. The great thing about Christianity is not worrying about our past sins--God has paid for them all. We're all going to get hurt somewhere along the road, but we need to remember there is a God out there who cares about us, wether we're murderers, homosexuals, fornicators, adulterers, etc. Here are some passages I've found in the Bible that might be of encouragement:
John 10:10 - "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Romans 5:8 - "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Hebrews 4:12 - "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart."
1 Corinthians 10:13 - “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
and one of my personal favorites:
Isaiah 64:4 - "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."
But maybe you don't want to hear the religious standpoint. We've all seen happy people live successful lives and pass away. You can have that! I'm not saying you should ignore the fact that others are hurting, but you shouldn't have to worry about everyone else's pain. Focus on being yourself, and as long as you're doing what you know you should, others' pain is irrelevant.
Let me ask you this: if living a happy and successful life is possible, why give up? Why give in to pain and suffering, when you can conquer it?

IS living a happy and sucessful life possible?
Find me somebody who is completely happy with life, and I'll agree with you. However, I'll be willing to bet my life (meaningless as it is) that you can't find somebody
He's a pastor at a local church, and he's sucessful and happy with life.
He seems to be completely happy with life, and there is always an air of confidence around him because of it.
nobody is ever "completely happy." yet the human race continues on. Why? well, sometimes the only answer is "just because."
why am i living right now? well, for my parents and friends. i wouldn't want to hurt them. and for the heck of it, in a way. there's a future ahead. i'd like the be there for it. i'd also like to help make the world a better place - hey, maybe it sounds cheesy, but that's my main goal in life, if i tried to put it into one simple phrase.
i figure if i'm here, i must have a purpose.
i don't know the point of life. but i've come to the conclusion that i'm wasting my time trying to figure it out.
life is precious. painful, yes. but it is infinitely precious.
Friends and family aren't guaranteed, both will betray you. As for hurting them, can you honestly say you've never hurt any of them in any way, shape or form??? if you hurt them when alive or dead, then what advantage to them does living have?
of course they're not guaranteed, but they are an inspiration (at times, haha) for living. and when i was feeling suicidal, what kept me from killing myself was the thought of how much i would hurt them. and that's the kind of hurt that goes way deeper than most things i could do while alive.
the hurt from that would be temporary
One of my friends died about a year ago, and nobody seems to have minded a month later...
Rather a month of above-average pain than an eternity of average pain
"nobody seems to have minded?" the hurt of someone you love commiting suicide DOES go way beyond a month or so of "above average pain." it's something that you can never go back and apologize for, something you can never "make up" for, something that you can never make right. when someone kills themself, they kill a part of everyone who knew them. they rip out a piece of countless people's hearts.
my mom found something i had written when i was suicidal. seeing the pain in her eyes tore my heart to pieces, and i cannot even contemplate killing myself now.
yes, depression goes way beyond that and isn't as simple as that to fix...but even if you think that no one cares about you, i promise you, there are people out there that care.
if you can agree with me that murder is wrong, then i must argue that suicide is just as wrong. yes, it is your own life and not someone else's that you are taking, but i cannot stress enough just how precious life is.
feeling suicidal is a result of something wonky in the brain...and you won't have to live the rest of your life like that. suicide is not the solution. getting help is.
people do remember suicides, and they have devastating effects on anyone the suicidal person even knew. even people they didn't know. not just crying, then getting over it. it doesn't work like that. it's devastating. and then you think of the people you will meet someday and change and be changed by and it's like whoa....things change for the worst a LOT without you in the picture. suicide isn't okay. at all. no matter how bad it is, get help. getting help is brave and noble.
