Just a quick question about carers allowence

Hey, my bf is claiming carers allowence as i am on dla higher, he helps me out alot.

It says carers allowence can affect some benifits.
Will it affect my DLA?
And when I start claiming Job seekers (made redundant today), will it affect that either??

xx

I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.

Sorry I don't know, it's worth ringing the carers allowance people and asking.

And look here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/CaringFo...ce/DG_10012529

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

My mum recently got awarded carers and it hasn't affected my DLA or income support. Sorry I can't be more of a help. xxx

As far as I know it won't affect DLA - as DLA is not means tested. Not sure about job seekers.

You really need to check with a benefits specialist. Citizens advice bureau might be able to help. Or a local advice agency, a carers centre, the local Mind charity? It might be worth phoning around.
hope that helps

It does not affect DLA. Nor should it affect Income Support.

However, if you go on something like Incapacity Benefit, I think there is something in that, as it has a cover for your partner. Not sure about Job Seekers, but your local CAB should be able to help.
