Ok, i have like, this problem.
Its like, stop ****ing whining.
Lately there have been SO many threads in here about chat. About how unwelcoming the regulars are, and how we ignore people that we dont know and dont save your lives when you want us to. Get a grip.
No one is your babysitter here, this site isnt for people to call hte ambulance for you when you cut yourself. Its for support.
A lot of people have brought up how when they enter chat and ask for support they get ignored.
When people come into chat and just put a whole load of crying faces and then say things like "youre all ignoring me" Yes. Yes we are. Because youre acting like a ****wit.
Also when people come in and Want support for things like their boyfriend/girlfriend/mother who jsut yelled at them for being a dick while someone else is currently getting support for a relapse in recovery, guess what buddy. Most people will ignore you too.

Seriously. Grow some balls.
ok that bit of ur post is a bit harsh, people wanting support if theyve had argument with someone is just as important as supporting someone who has relapsed, i kno from my personal experience that argueing with someone could lead on to the person harming themselves. pls dont prioritise people who need support, one persons supposed 'insignificant' problem can be just as huge as the next persons 'big problem'

Reason: spelling
I WISH I'D NEVA SEEN THE SUNSHINE, I WISH I'D NEVA SEEN THE SUNSHINE, BECOZ IF I'D NEVA SEEN THE SUNSHINE, MAYBE THEN I WOULDN'T MIND THE RAIN.
Well, I think she's right.
If you've got some person who is having a serious relapse, and someone comes on whining about how their mum told them to wash the dishes or something, then they're gunna be ignored.
so everyone in chat will support the person who has relapsed and ignore the one person who may have fell out with someone? and could possibly only need a bit of advice? can people not chat to more than one person at a time?
like i said, harsh.
I WISH I'D NEVA SEEN THE SUNSHINE, I WISH I'D NEVA SEEN THE SUNSHINE, BECOZ IF I'D NEVA SEEN THE SUNSHINE, MAYBE THEN I WOULDN'T MIND THE RAIN.
I feel I can say this as I've been a member of this site for six years and have been a Chat Moderator for... jeez. I have no clue. I'm also Head of Chat and so have had a lot of experience with chat and its members.
What seems to get under people's skin are those members that seem to think everything should be dropped for them. While this is a support site and support is the priority of the site and chat, we're all still humans, and none of us have endless patience.
I've seen people in chat that were genuinely in need of support getting support. Then, someone acting bratty will pop in and start complaining. What are they usually complaining about? Their mom making them wash dishes. Or their dad telling them they can't go out on a school night. Things that all teenagers and kids are told to do or not to do. Fine, teenagers exist.
But when someone expects a serious discussion/support to be dropped for a matter like that, it probably won't happen.
Think about it this way... If you were getting support/supporting someone for a relapse, which was triggered by something truly upsetting to the person/you, and has also added more stress and upset to the person/you, would you want someone coming in and demanding all the attention away from you, ALL the attention onto them, because their sister stole their pen?
It's not rational or logical. It's really childish and gives the impression of a spoiled child, a bratty child, and a self-absorbed person.
While that might have upset the person, yes, it's a part of life and it isn't likely it's going to have caused the person to lose all hope and faith in themselves and life and isn't likely to cause them to resort to harming themselves or give up on their recovery, if that's the path they've started on.
It's tiring to see these sorts of things for the members.
And while we're here to support everyone we can, some things aren't as dire as others, and so those tend to take the back burner for a while.
And the paramedics/cops thing. It's something the mods have discussed a million times over. We chose to not get involved in doing that because of a few reasons.
1. People would expect it all the time.
2. People lie/exaggerate.
3. People would lose trust in the site.
-People trust this site because of its anonymity. You can go into chat or onto the forums and talk about things you can't in real life. If we started reporting every single person that has claimed they've taken an overdose or cut themselves or feel suicidal do you think this site would work as it does? No. We would lose members and those members would either have to find other places to go to or lose out on all the support we offer here.
Really, there are a ton of reasons things are the way they are. And while the original wording of this may have not been the nicest way to say it, I must say I do agree with what she's said.
We're not here to babysit, we're here to offer a supportive environment and a safe place to talk about things. We're not here to call 911 for you every single time you say you've done something to yourself. We also have the faith in our members that if they know they need help they will get it themselves. If you didn't want help it's unlikely you'd be part of this site.
I have close this thread because it was just descending into an argument which was unnecessary. If those involved would like to continue a heated discussion feel free to do so in PM.
If you have complaints about chat that the moderators can deal with, feel free to contact me and I'll see what I can do.
