Why under my profile on the bit saying 'I am a...' do I no longer have 'member' there? At first I thought that perhaps all mods have had that removed from their profile but other mods have 'member' there. This isn't very important... just a general wondering of why it has disappeared from my profile.

Like mods can switch to be blue for a while by selecting to show up as a 'member' but I don't have that option. It says my primary group is a chat mod... strange.

^ Your primary group should be a chat mod, which you can't leave, and you should be able to select to 'identify yourself as' (I believe the phrase is) a regular member, if you wanted.

I'm no longer a member, I selected to 'leave current group' as a member, so now it's blank when I'm there :)

Where's the option to identify yourself as? My primary group used to be 'member' I thought everyone's primary group was member? Strange.

Okay, yeah, still can't get on to that.

I'm almost certain that your primary group is a moderator (or at least, mine was), and secondary group is a member.
I selected to 'leave' being a member (you can't leave your primary group), so now it's just a blank screen when I go into that section.

Underneath that, there should be something like
"Identify me as...
- A Mod
- A Member"

Which is where you select whether you're going to be blue or green.
Do you have any of that?

Actually, chat mods don't have it set as their primary group, and can leave the group if they wanted to on their own. Forum mods is the only thing I've had where it was set so I cannot leave the group.

So, for chat mods, their primary group is 'member' and their secondary group is 'chat moderator.' At least that's how it was for me before I became a forum mod. I'm thinking it's because chat mods only have admin abilities in their forums while forum mods have it all around. Not sure, though.

I'm not sure about the loss of the 'member' option, though. Sorry Sophie.

Maybe not terribly important, Soph, but I wanted to point out that it must be your account being strange, as I still have the member-group there (as primary group, so I can't leave it - aww.)

And the "Identify me as.." right below it. What have you done to RYL again? ;)

Jo, I thought everyone was supposed to have "I am a member" in their profile as mods ARE members too.

I'm just wondering why it's gone from my profile. Primarily I should be a member as everyone initially joins as a member and is first and foremost a member.

For as long as there have been member groups on someone's profile (i.e. setting up v.3) Harley has said that "moderators still have "member" on their profile, because they are still members of this site".

Well, if someone can explain to me what the point of removing the "member" bit from your profile is (I guess that'd be Jo), then I'll gladly listen.

I can go and find countless threads for you where it is stated by both Harley and the moderators that the mods still have "member" in their profile because they are exactly that - members. I do not see what you hope to achieve by removing it, except to set yourself apart from the rest of the mods because you are no longer an ordinary member too.

Now, before I start, I'm saying that I am not going to get into an argument here, and if it happens, I shall simply ignore the thread. But as you can see, having quoted the IP, she didn't intentionally remove the Member status from her profile, and that's why she is questioning it. Therefore, your comments are invalid.
