home page poll

is it really appropriate to have a poll asking what stage of recovery you're at on the home page?

Why would it be wrong to have that as a poll on a recovery site?

^ as Duffer says it shouldn't be an issue as unless an error was made it covers all segments from not recovering through to recovering.

The polls are being randomly selected from a group posted by members and those in the CT. If you have other suggestions than why not post them?

Tbh I thought the new one was so much better than all those other random ones that are like "whats your fav food?". What don't you like about it?

I dont think there's anything wrong with it. Its nice to see a new poll on the home page, and something relevant to the site

i personally think it's interesting to see where to majority of people are at, recovery-wise. and it's anonymous, so i see no problem. i like it.

It's nice to have a new poll, I don't dispute that, but it just doesn't sit right with me.

In a way, I think your stage of recovery is personal to you ( I say that despite being on this site) and while I understand wanting to display that you are recovering well, I don't feel a poll on the home page is best for that.

Also, when I logged in this morning, the option with most votes was 'not recovering', now what does that say about a so-called recovery site?

I feel the danger is that people could log on, see most people are not recovering from the results of the poll, and it makes this site look more 'pro' and less about 'recovery'.

Actually, it doesn't say "not recovering". It says "not recovered."

I don't see a problem with the poll. It's completely relevant to the site.
It's interesting to note who is using the site and at what stage of recovery they are in, if at all.

I think it is appropriate, but I'm not sure how to answer.
I don't see my recovery difrectly related to self injury...

I you feel your stage of recovery is personal to you you don't have to post just like no one has to it is up to them whether they want to vote or not. But some people sometimes want to share the stage they are at with certain people maybe because they are proud of themselves for coming so far or are maybe just starting on the road to recovery that is why we have the Moving Forward board but of course that is not anonymous.

No one can see who has picked which option on the poll, so it is anonymous.

it is up to you if you want to do the poll, if you do not feel you want to leave it till another comes up that you can do.

I do see where you're coming from with this, completely.

I like having a new poll, and I think it's interesting, but I do share some of your concerns.

To be honest the fact that Not recovered is out in front on the poll will have to do with the fact that we take on hundreds of new people a week, and they will properbly answer the question as well plus there are people on the site that are trying to recover who aren't one month free or completely free. This shouldn't worry people but give the drive to all of us that it is possible to reach certain goals. I think it may do some good as if they poll was 100% recovered then you would put people off coming as they will feel it's a site just for those who have recovered but it shows that the whole site is mixed in the stageof there recovery and be more welcoming to everyone no matter where they are with it.

The one thing I like about this poll is the discussion it has generated.

The next poll will be coming any day now!

the very reason most people come here is because they're not recovered - otherwise a recovery site wouldn't be needed...
