Okay, long story short, I'm on medication for psychosis. And even though it does get rid of the voices fine, I'm still convinced that people read my mind, spy on me, etc. In example:
-I can't go on my labtop while the other one in my house is on because I'm afraid my parents are spying on me through there.
-No matter where I am, whether in a large crowd or alone in my room, I can not think about anything without starting to get scared that my parents or someone else within the same building as me is reading my mind, so I quickly start mentally threatening anyone who is reading it to get out.
-I'm afraid every single time that I leave my room that my parents will search through it top to bottom again. And anything I have to hide I keep with me so I dont even know why I'm afraid of it.
-When someones behind me I always have a physical feeling in my back that I think as a premonition that someones going to stab/shoot me directly in that area.
-I'm scared that there's a security camera somewhere in my room. I always have the lights out in here just in case.
I just have no idea what the hell to do with these thoughts. No matter how many times people tell me to register them as delusions, and I do, I still can't help but escape this feeling in my head that keeps me afraid. I've talked to my psychologist about the mind reading delusion, but anything he had to say was of absolutely no help to me. I don't know whether or not I need to talk to my psychiatrist about a larger dose of my medication, or what. I just don't know.
Heyya,
I can understand what you're saying. I think you should talk to someone about this, maybe they could help you more. Talk this over with your doctors and see what he/she suggests. I don't really have any other advice, other than that. Sorry. Take care. x
maybe you do need a higher dose of meds, it's worth talking to your paych about anyway. after all, if they've helped with the voices they'll probably help with these beliefs as well, given the right amount and ome time. and i'm sure tehy're not reading your mind, if that's any help to know. when peopl e could read my mind i made a wall around my mind so that people couldn't see in through my eyes - it made me feel safer and people couldn't 'see' it so i didn't haver to act too strange either. would practising something like that help for now?
Hi. I have paranoid schizophrenia. I understand your concerns. If you want, you can PM me and I can discuss these things with you.
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
I've been on medication since the beginning of November. Plus, I have a very fast metabolism so I've been told the meds would kick in pretty quickly. So I think it should have been up to full effect by now.
I can relate to alot of what you write. Particularly the fact that even when you KNOW you're psychotic, it's difficult to think of these things as delusions because they still seem like a very real threat *gentle hug*
If you've been on the meds that long perhaps you should talk to your psych about a bigger dose, or maybe a med change altogether, because the meds have been given enough time to work by now. Spending that much time worrying about things like that is not fun, I hope your psych thinks of something to help.
