Bringing stuff up from the past
Is bringing stuff up from the past a good idea? I've shut it all away but I know it still affects me. I brought some stuff up yesterday and ever since I've felt very small, insecure and vulnerable. I'm not used to feeling like this. I found out today that I don't need to talk about this stuff in CBT so I'm relieved, but I'm also wondering whether I should face this stuff, and also whether I can do it alone. Or should I just shut it all back away and forget about it again? The only problem is that the CBT will be trying to help me with the negative feelings towards myself but I know that that will stir up a lot of things from the past.
I'm not really sure what the point of this post is but if anyone could spare some love or kindness it really would be appreciated.

You prob knew my respsonse but I'll say it anyway. You should get it out, in a controlled setting of course but it should come out. You don't want it all staying with you because it will bubble up in different ways to upset you. *hugs*

it really sounds like you know the answer yourself already.
yes, it's definitely a good idea to let out your emotions & feelings. it is never a good idea to keep it all inside.
in regards to feeling small & vulnerable, that is completely normal. and i don't think there is much you/anyone can do to change that but that is only in the short term. it is difficult to tell somebody something which is a, so personal & b, a situation in which you were powerless. in the long run, it will be better for your mental health to try and deal with this and it will be painful but it will be worth it.
good luck.

I'm trying to start writing stuff down. I'll see whether I can let anything out.
