Zyprexa (Olanzapine) issues.

Hi all, my psych put me on Zyprexa 2 weeks ago. In the 2 weeks, I have gained 10 (+/-) pounds. I can work that out though (start exercising, etc). However, the unexpected side effect: I'm extremely irritable and angry most of the time. Yesterday, I freaked out and almost had to be hospitalized :( I don't know what to do, I see my psych again in exactly one month but I dunno how to cope with the anger issue. It's been getting rid of my manic and depressive episodes though, which is a huge plus. Anyone else have this problem or have any advice? Thanks so much. xx

hi was put on this drug in hospital and put on stone and half in one week .was eating loads of chocolate crisps couldnt stop.however the drug itself i found agreed with me i was very outgoing and creative ,i started drawing agin and was almost on a high on it.i cant say i was irritable or angry at all so im sorry i cant give you any advice.if it werent for the weight issue id still be on it id say.i have to warn you you will gain serious weight on this drug its notorious for it .but if you eat right maybe oyu will be ok but if you are angry id say try and talk to someone about maybe changing .i liked this drug only for the weight gain aspect of it.i hope verything works out you .good luck and i love your avatar thats my fav film!!!

I didn't know they still prescribed this. I was on this med for about 2 weeks a couple of years ago. Didn't go so well. Have you considered calling your psych? Good luck with it. xxx
