Prozac side effect question

Hi,

I recently started taking Prozac, and soon after began to get flu like symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, weakness etc) which I believe is one of the possible side effects. Will this side effect last for the entire time I'm on it, or is it just a temporary thing while my body gets used to it?

i [think] it'll just be the first couple of weeks, normally the side effects go away after that.

it is most likely just a side effect if it started shortly after you started taking the med. most medications take at least seven days to get into one's system, and while that process is just beginning the body will tend to have adverse, BUT TEMPORARY effects. so it should go away in a couple weeks. if it doesnt i would consult the dr. that put you on it, and just let them know what's going on.

'
the side effects that people taking PROZAC experience most include nausea, difficulty sleeping, drowsiness, anxiety, nervousness, weakness, loss of appetite, tremors, dry mouth, sweating, decreased sex drive, impotence, and/or yawning. These tend to be mild and usually go away within a few weeks of starting treatment.' copied from: prozac.com
