Clomipramine and other questions

Hi this is Sandy. I am taking Clomipramine 25 mg,for OCD behavior and my doctor told me that I also have personality disorder NOS,which it can be confusing. Has anyone taking this medicaiton before? The only side affects that I am dealing with is that it makes me tired,and can not go to the bathroom,sorry for putting that there. I am doing alright,and keeping myself busy in positive ways. There are times that I want to take the medication and there are other times that I do not. When I read the side affects,it makes me not want to take it,has anyone felt that way before,or is it me.I know that I have some OCD behaviors,that it does get to me.My doctror wants me to take it 1 hour before I go to bed. I just wondering if anyone has taken it before. Thanks alot. I am hanging in there and doing the best I can.I am busy tonight,so I will be back on real soon.

I took this about 2 years ago, also for OCD. Personally I didnt find it worked well for me. I had too many side effects. I also took it at night as I think it should help the tiredness, but that didnt work for me. If you cant cope with the side effects you can ask to try some ssri's. They also help with OCD and they have less side effects. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the messages. I will see what happens with the medication,and if the side affects bother me I will talk to the doctor. I am also on Paxil in the morning.thanks again

It's the first medication (other than tranqs) that has helped my OCD. Is 25mg your starting dose whilst they build it up to a higher one? Because I wouldn't expect any change in anything (other than yes you'll get the side effects) for about a month or so. Also, don't just stop taking it (especially when you're on a higher dose), I did this as a form of self harm and it was utter hell.

Erm, yeah, urinal retention, I get that. Which reminds me I was supposed to tell a doctor/nurse about that. Ah well. Erm, yes, it's not a cure all, nothing is, well, treatment is of course meant to help up to 80% but I find it's given me more space and much more insight (before I had so little insight one doctor misdiagnosed me with schizophrenia).
