Triggering (Abuse) - Is it normal..?
I am curious
is it normal to not want people behind you or when your busy not to have people behind you....?
cause when i was younger my older brother sorta hit me or pushed me and flinch easily if i think someone is gonna hit me
and i also was verbally abused by him
and i take things to seriously and to heart
which is probly from the verbal abuse
and i dont mind play hitting
but if its not play hitting i try to brush it off ...like it doesnt bother me
for example
i was at a day program in phoenix in arizona
and one of hte client acted up and pushed me and that didnt bother me and then he all of the sudden smacked me upside the back of the head really hard ...but me i just sat there as if nothing happend....and just seemed as if it didnt bother me....but when it really did i became scared and i cried that night when it happend
but i just flinch really easily if i think someone is gonna hit me when they really are not gonna hit me...
is this normal to not like behind you ..?
i ramble to much but i just today felt like someone was gonna hit me and i could feel my musles flinching in a twitch like way
so um yea

I flinch a lot at sudden movements. And when people touch me from behind. You're not alone xx

For those doubts that swirl all around us
For those lives that tear at the seams
We know… we’re not what we’ve seen
For this dance we’ll move with each other
There ain’t no other step than one foot
Right in front of the other
~ We're marching on... ~

me too.
I think it can sometimes be called an exaggerated startle response. I know mine is part of my symptoms of PTSD.
you not alone but it does suck

Ever since I was about 6 years old I've not liked people being behind me. If you have been abused in some way then I think this response wouldn't be 'abnormal'. When waiting in a line, I will let others infront of me. When walking on the pavement I will let others pass me before I continue walking. I think they are going to do something to me so I want to let them infront so I can keep an eye on them.
I know what your going through.

Yep I am like that.. Can't stand anyone behind me at all The closer they are the worse I am. Always feel like something is going to happen. Don't like it when people that I don't know or don't trust sit next to me or stand next to me either. Yup I too flinch if someone raises there hand. I do feel like I'm going to be hurt by them. It can even be someone that I trust a heck of a lot and I still flinch. In college (or anywhere really) I try to sit somewhere where there's no-one behind me and no-one can get behind me. I'm sorry that person did that to you. That wasn't nice at all!
*Hugs* (If OK) xx

Yeah I'm the same. In Science I was sitting on the back bench and Craig, who is usually an Ok kinda guy, stood up and stood right behind me. Now I flinch whenever anyone or anything is closer than about 2 feet away, and even more if I can't see them all the time. I told him that I really wasn't comfortable with him being there behind me and he shrugged and stood there. I tried (admittedly) using a bit of force to move him but he's stronger than me. Eventually I had to move to the other side of the desk just coz this c*nt was standing there. I was in my proper seat and he just got up out of his, so it wasn't my fault.
But yeah, I know where you're coming from *gentle hugs*

I don't like people or things behind me, I am also paranoid about things flying around my head. I am totally blind in my left eye, and was in a friends house and they had let the budgie out
I didn't know and it flew up behind me on my left, it made me jump and I automatically lashed out and hit it into the wall, where it just dropped onto the floor.
My friend burst into tears, but it was only stunned, I never did like that bird after, true story
