I doubt it. It would be excluding a heck of alot of people and it's not really that necessary as everything that is said in there can easily fit in any of the other forums.

I'm kind of surprised that it's even allowed as a thread. Isn't it in the rules that you shouldn't talk about religion?

I'm sorry... I fail at RYL...

Jess' point is valid, because it would be unfair to have board that excludes people - one thing people like about RYL is that it's so open about who it welcomes. Furthermore, there are plenty of Christian based support communities already out there. (:

For Megan, do you mean:
Quote:
Please do not make comments or post images that overly push any religious belief (or lack thereof) onto any other members, or make any religious comments that could be offensive to others. It is not fair to judge and discredit others' beliefs - whatever they may be. If you see a religious comment and disagree, please just turn away and refrain from responding.

For example : "X will save you from self-harm!", "Your God sucks", "how can you believe all that? I don't"

You can talk about religion so long as you arent bashing other people and telling them what they believe is wrong.

The christian SIers thread is fine because they are just discussing their beliefs within themselves and not disrespecting anyone.

It wont be made into a whole forum though because other people would would feel excluded, and plus we have a lot of specialist forums already and so if you wanted a christian SI board you could join another forum.

Oh god, a forum for Christians? So then you'll have to have one for all the agnostics, all the Muslims, all the Hindus, all the Jews, all the atheists, all the Jedi's...

Also, would you sub-divide it into Catholic, CofE, Protestant and Gnostic?

To be honest, I think the Christian SIer's thread is more than enough - on v.2 that wouldn't have been allowed as it is!

I agree, a whole forum would be a little much, but the thread being more than enough? that's crazy to me that on v.2 it wouldn't have been allowed. anyone can make a thread, it's not like atheists, hindus, wiccans, etc. couldn't make their own thread too - so it's not like that would make it unfair or push just one religion. how the hell is a single thread infringing on anyone's rights?

i've never posted in that thread, as i am not a christian, but i fully support their right to one. <-- sorry i know that isn't the point of this thread, but the comment about v.2 just seems crazy.

anyway, so sorry to get off topic. i don't think the whole other forum thing would be a good idea, i doubt there would be a huge need for it anyway. just my opinion though.

All talk of religion was banned on v.2, for the fact that it caused more arguments than it solved. Same goes with politics, etc.

Fact is, we're a self harm support site, not a religion support site. So yes, if it was made on v.2, it would've been deleted in accordance with the rules.

I can see why people want/use the Christian SIers thread, but I think it's plenty.

The Thread was actually there on version 2

As said it isn't really discussing religions, it's a group of people who are Christians, supporting each other with their self injury.

It's a big thread but I think there is not enough content for a forum, and as a forum would be excluding alot of people and just wouldn't work here.

I don't think anyone would have a problem with a Muslim SIer's Thread or any other religion.

RYL is not a religious forum, so no, i don't think we need a forum to satisfy peoples religious needs.

It's not a coincidence, though.

Religion is a major part of some people's lives and means a hell of a lot.

Just because you're not religious doesnt mean other religious people cant talk together.

Yeah sure, starting the "Brown haired SIers" thread would be taking the piss. But having brown hair isnt a religion, is it?

Plus (coming from a religious family, whilst not being religious myself I can see this point of view) people consider God to be the most powerful being, who can help them through any difficulties they are facing and can help them to get through. As said in the quote below, religion is a big part of peoples' lives, and yes, so might having brown hair be, but to believe that having brown hair can help, guide and support people? Pisstake.

Sometimes people lose their belief in God because of problems, maybe SI, anything, really. Sometimes people gain belief in God, when they find that he can help them get through the difficulties they are having. I know I lost my belief because I felt that the God I once believed in would not be so cruel to let His people suffer, and so I stopped believing in him. But many people do not do this.

In short, I don't think that SI and religious beliefs are purely a coincidence.

I'm not disputing the existence of a thread for whatever religion (and I think that if you want it, you should make a Musilm SIers thread :) ). I'm saying that having a forum is a bit much, when you take into account what you'd have to do to balance it out etc.
