In need of emotional support.

Hi,

I am struggling with depression however my SH is becoming less frequent. And I have been waiting to see a counsellor & SH support group since September. I keep going back to my doctors as my depression worsen, but all they do is increase my meds. However I feel like I need more than to drugged up...I need emotional support whilst I am waiting for my counselling.

Does anyone know what emotional support might be available in the meantime??

I'm really not coping at the moment and need some help.

There are many resources available for emotional support, it can be hard to find them though.

First of all there are many online support groups which are helpful to a lot of people. Google Depression Online Support Groups and I"m sure something will come up.

There is often support available over the phone. Again googling depression support should bring up some options with a little bit of research.

If you are looking for face to face support in your area there are a few things you can do. You can talk to your doctor about getting a referral to a support group in your area. Also many cities have "mental health centres" which offer a variety of services including support groups, counseling, etc. Often these services are free of charge, what is offered varies from centre to centre.

To find these centres google the name of your city along with the words "mental health" give them a call, if they do not offer what you need, they will likely be able to refer you to somewhere that does.

If you need any help finding support in your area PM me and I will do what I can.

I would be tempted to go back to your gp and tell him that the medication alone isnt working for you and insist that you need some immediate support whilst waiting for you counselling and support group - hope you get something soon xxx
