Psychotherapy

Anyone been through it?

Did it help?

I started it in December, and not only is it tearing me apart but I feel like I'm losing it.

Hold on.

I have had it before.
It usually is emotionally painful during it but worth it in the end. Perhaps you should bring up what is so distressing to you with the psychotherapist. It may turn out that it isn't a suitable treatment for you after all.

Often one has to take apart the pieces so they can be put together properly, this time round.

I am having psychotherapy at the moment, and while its not easy, I can see it helping in the long run. Stick with it because I really believe it can help you work through your issues and you will learn about yourself and it will hopefully get you on the road to recovery.

Let us now how you get on.

God Bless

i've had various psychotherapy for about four years. it has taken a long time, and i have a lot yet to do, but it has helped. it has been massively painful, but i promise you, it's been worth it. xxx

I'm having psychtherapy at the moment, and tbh all that it's done is made me feel worse. I think that could be because the therapist is the most impatient, scary person in the world. At the moment I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it for me.
Stay strong.

Hi.im not having psychotherapy currently but have done previously and feel that i probably still have quite a bit to do and - while it is important that obviously its your decision whether to continue right now or not etc and also very important that you take things at your own pace in order for things to work out - i agree with the others i think that it can be very painful but that it can also help and be very beneficial sometimes.Good luck with whatever you decide and let us know what happens.

PS Also yes it may be helpful to talk through with your therapist if you can how your finding that the therapy is bringing up so much distress right now and your feelings around that.Good luck.

i do not always manage to be around but i wish you all the very best - love and luck to you all!

Sorry to hijack your thread. I've got my first assessment appt for psychotherapy at the beginning of March. I've been really trying to curb my sh, ODs, drinking etc but when I spoke to my cpn earlier this week he said that I will prob find that I find that my sh will increase again at first. So why am I making all this effort now?

If they accept me, what can I expect from a "session", what is discussed etc as I am really crap at opening up to people.

Thanks.
