Triggering (SI/Suicide) - Why do they do this?

Ii was discharged form the psychiatric ward ;laast week after just beiing on my new meds for 4 ddays. Now I feell worse than before - treuely suicidal and my self harm has really got out of hand. How stupid is that bloody doctor??!! I feel patronised and trivialised by her and think its such a mindless thing to do when a person feels fragile. i live alone and am desperate - if it wasnt for my dog, I would OD What can I do to get throguh this period in one piece - any ideas?

Is there a crisis team or crisis line you can call?
Or could you contact your cpn tomorrow?
If there is no one you can spend time with tonight you need to be distracting yourself - i know thats hard. I try watching dvds, writing, having a bathetc. Just filling up the til bed really.
Do you sleep ok?

Sorry you are feeling so bad right now. Can you talk to a close friend about what you're feeling right now? If not can you call a crisis line? If you're thinking of OD'ing or harming yourself in any way, please take yourself to A&E......your life is precious even if you don't realise it right now. Dark light has some great ideas for distraction, can you take your dog for a walk? I know the weather is probably crappy and you won't feel like it but it would at least put your mind onto something else even if it is only temporary. *Hugs you*

*offers hugs* Sorry to hear that things aren't going well... hopefully the meds will start working soon; although it sounds trite it will pass eventually.

Please try and keep yourself safe; both dark light and Archangel have some good ideas; try to find things to hold on too. Keep posting on here as much as possible.

What is your dog like? Tell us about him/her.

Thanks to you all - I got through another night - but it always involves knocking myself out with valium - not a great solution. My dog is truely my saviour - a lovely black lab though sometimes a bit of a chancer! I am trying too take a day at a time. Twice Ive phoned up the ward for a chat but feel they are sick of me, but I dont know what else to do. Sometimes the days feel endless and aimless - as does my life. Thank goodness for this place and people who care...
Ive cut my face now and scared to go out - people will stare - the "cat" excuse is wearing thin - what now....?

Well done for getting through the night.
I'm sure they aren't sick of you phoning - if you need the support its what they are there for. Nathan is right if you feel like harming yourself go to a&e and talk to someone, they would always rather you go before you do something.
Your dog sounds lovely, keep focussed on him as a distraction. Can you walk him in the evening if that feels more comfortable with your face? people may not notice so much then x

Back to evening and back to feeling low - all I seem to focus on now is sh or overdosing. Its so stupid, but I need them to listen to me. What do you have to do to be heard? I feel a bit like the boy who cried wolf - maybe they will take notice when its too late. Life just seems so black right now with the future bleak

Sorry you feel low. I know its easier said than done but try and keep yourself distracted. Keep posting on here, watch a DVD, have a hot bath and try and relax.

I really hope you make it through another night
Please keep safe
