Triggering (SI/OD) - Psychotherapy Questionnaire *trig sui also*

I've finally received the questionnaire from the psychotherapy place I am being referred to. I'm not sure about one of the questions though and wondered if perhaps you could review my suggested answer:

PRESENT PROBLEM: Please describe your problems and how they affect your current life.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “problems” but maybe the difficulties I am currently experiencing (and have done for some time) may qualify? I feel/think that in the past couple of years , I’ve gone from being a strong, capable, determined person with drive and ambition to just nothing, someone who needn’t be here. I wake up every morning feeling sick (and sometimes am), purely and simply because of the realisation that I am expected to face/fight another day. A day which requires me to fight to even get out of bed and out of the house to work – which I used to enjoy but no longer cope with. I don’t understand why it is that I am expected to fight, to live; even if I was happy, I don’t get why I should live. I do so, I suppose because society deems it wrong to commit suicide, to allow oneself peace. I have changed from a person willing to try anything (eg commanding artillery in the TA and moving across the world by myself to work in LA) to someone who feels scared/anxious at the everyday prospect of being around people. I hear voices/people speak to me – some are vivid memories, another one criticise and comments on me and one of them is my sister’ husband. At time, they can be overwhelming and incredibly scary. I fight the thoughts of suicide on what sometimes feels like a constant basis. I feel as though my head is so full of things, that I can’t seem to grasp hold of them, that it is too full, too noisy. It’s a fight to motivate myself, which was never a problem in the past. It sounds silly but I feel confused. I don’t understand where the other “me” went, why it did, if it was real or whether this excuse for a person is the reality. I feel at times, just incredibly sad and hurt for no reason and at other times, just empty, just nothing, devoid of any will to carry on and guilty because of society’ view on suicide. I’ve been absent from work for lengthy period this past year when previously I was extremely reliable. It’s as if that person has “upped and left”.

It all sounds a bit lame and I am not sure if they count as "problems". I've mentioned the self harm etc in the question after re how you cope with the problems.

What do you reckon?

What you've just written is basically what they are looking for.

Your problems are any issues you are currently experiencing, so it sounds like your anxiety, loss of motivation, voices etc.

It doesn't sound lame at all. They are all very real to you and sound like they are causing you distress/worry and no-one is going to dismiss them.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

It doesn't sound lame. I would use that because you have to be honest and that shows how you are stuggling at the moment.
Good luck and take care of yourself
xx

You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

There are all these other questions about your childhood/teenage years/separation etc. It just makes me feel so silly. I also have to declare the last time I self harmed, ODd, abused alochol, drugs, etc. I look at what I write and then my answers to those questions and I feel so silly for not being able to cope with it. I need to just put up with it somehow. They're just going to think I am wasting their time. I know I should post the questionnaire back to them as this is the help on offer at the moment but I don't deserve it.

you def deserve the help as we all do!! i think what you have written is perfect.
and i get what you mean about feeling silly when you are answering these questions and we all find things different to cope with and we shouldnt be judged for that

to get the correct help for you you need to be honest! and what you have written is great....try not to over analyse what you have written. write what comes naturally and then seal it and send it

hope you find the therapy useful and helps to get you happy again :) xx

Sorry, I do have a tendency to overanalyse things. Will try and get round to posting it today.

but it needs to be sent off, write what comes from the heart sweetie xx

Thanks hun, maybe I should have added that as a problem .

I've just sealed the envelope (and put some sellotape on it just in case). I'm going to post it later today when I go out for a walk/short jog.

I appreciate the support. It's silly what a tizzy this whole telling people things has gotten me into.

It's ok to be nervous about their response etc. It is natural but you know that you need to send it. You have fought for this. Don't give up now.

I posted it last night. Can't believe I was actually so honest in it.

Thanks for everyone for encouraging me in this.
