Motivation and interests

For months now I've been neglecting my interests and I feel terrible about it. I study languages in my spare time, that's my hobby. Well, it was supposed to be. I just don't have any motivation to do it. At all.

I need to revise for my exams, too. I barely have the motivation to get up and make a sandwich lately, for christ's sake. Even putting something in the microwave lately is too much for me, so much so that I've barely eaten lately. Every time I wake up in the morning everything feels so hopeless.

Can anyone give me a hand? The regular things I used to use for motivation (like telling myself what would happen, trying to get myself interested in it or plain making myself "just do it") just aren't working anymore.

What about rewarding your after you've done it? Try doing a small amount at a time so it doesn't seem so overwhelming. What about writing a list of why you do want to DO it?

I'm having a similar issue, so I don't really have anything to offer. But I think the rewarding yourself suggestion could really work. Maybe give that a shot?
I really hope you find something that helps you.

I think a reward system is a good idea, like you could say if I do x for 15 mins, then I can lay down for 30 mins. or something like that.

Also, I don't know if this is relevant to you or not, but I sometimes find the guilt I get for not doing something keeps me from doing it even more - vicious circle. So if you have a struggle with that too, try to let yourself know that you don't have to feel guilty; that you're struggling right now and that you're trying.

Also, just curious if you're seeing anyone about this?

when i'm losign motivation, i choose one piece of work i'm going to do and then divide it up, like ravynsoul says, into bits that are manageable. and have something to eat before starting so you have some energy. i usually have a cup of tea while i'm working, so i have an excuse to pause. doing that doesn't always help but it might be worth a go.

Is anyone around to help you with the practical things? I work as a support assistant and our team help people to do some of the things that you are struggling with and help to provide motivation. Perhaps you could ask your GP if there is anything similar available in your area? Take care.
