Mirtazapine and sugar cravings

I've been having a look around and this is very common apparently. But im obese and eating lots of sugar is not good. I'm trying not to but im getting really anxious when I don't have it and I get anxious when i do cos im so big . Is there anything like sugar that will stop the cravings but isn't so unhealthy.

Hey Minty,

I'm having similar problems on Mirtazapine. I'm always craving junky foods, it's awful. I was going to make a thread myself so I'm glad you did! I wish I had some useful advice, just wanted to let you know you aren't alone :)

I have this problem on mirtazapine. I'm trying to fill up on healthier foods so I'm not hungry enough for the sugary things.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Try fruit, like kiwi or pears, something that's a bit sweet. Sometimes the sweetness with help wane off the want for sugar.

Dried fruit is good, too.

How long have you been on it? I found that does tend to wear off. Or, at least, it did for me.

Been on it 6 weeks. Meds seem to take a while with me .I think I might just mention it to the doctor, because eating too much fruit leads to me having stomach problems. As well as the weight issue. I feel silly saying it but does it seem worth mentioning.

I'm on clozapine and I can't stop thinking about chocolate and pick 'n' mix!

I cure these cravings by eating ripe fruits; they're tasty and sweet but they're not unhealthy.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
