Triggering (SI) - no self harm is good
but could deep scratches be better than knife cuts? in a mental trying to cope trying not to self harm way?
i let myself escape cutting but now have several deep bleeding scratches- i havent scratched in probably 5 yrs, cut in a few months,so I didnt want to grab the other tool, knowing i might have gone deep.
yes i cleaned them,a good hard cleaning...so disappointed...
Advice anyone?

You are right, any self harm is not good. But damage limitation is best if you don't feel the harming is avoidable. Please look after yourself there Rain x

Fight for another day

I agree with Pomegranate, self harm is never good but if it is unavoidable then it is at least better to do damage limitation if you can. Do you think anything in particular set these urges off or made them less easier to deal with? Keep fighting there, you can make it through this. Take care

i think damage control works well if you absolutely have to harm.
just a few days ago, the intensity just got to me.
i WANTED to cut...but i bruised instead(my version of damage control)
i think you need to look at this in a positive manner.
usually you would have went straight to your "tool" and maybe have done massive damage.
if you were able to have "control" over the SI...i think its progress. i really do.
much love Rainy.

I also think that if have to sh (especially if it will stop you doing more destructive things) that damage limitation is the best way forward. It's good that you managed to control it like that. Don't be too hard on yourself, it is a minor slip-up.
