Subscribing to a Thread

I was wondering, when I subscribe to a thread I set it for instant e-mail notification, but it only ever sends me the e-mail of the first reply, and not any subsequent replies.

Is there anyway I can set it up so that it e-mails me all replies from the thread after I subscribe to it?

Hmmm, I don't know. Do you mean if you subscribe to it and then it sends you an email and then you look at the reply and after you've checked it there are subsequent replies posted but you don't get emails for them (like for at least 1 after the last time you've checked)?

I don't really know how it works but I'd have thought you should get at least 1 if new post(s) have been added after you have looked at the thread

the instant e-mail notification works like you subscribe and if theres a reply it sends you one e-mail, and thats it until you sign in again, after youve signed in again it should work.... thats what happens with me anyways, when i finally realized to change it to that that is instead of the only one e-mail ever option!!! Hope that helps x

We have this 'restriction' in place to make sure that someone doesnt accidentally sign up to get all replies to something like the rainbow room to their email! 1 minute of going nuts with the subscribe button on a few threads and you could be in for hundreds of emails in a very short space of time!

There is an update to RYL on the horizon which includes replying to threads by email. You will be able to subscribe to get threads and ALL replies sent you to via email and you will actually be able to reply to the email itself and have RYL post it as a new reply. But until the management and systems are there to cope with the hug amount of extra mail that would generate, for RYL and for members we are kinda forced to keep it this way !

^^ So would that mean I could reply to RYL threads without being logged in to RYL? That's useful if it shows no sign of RYL coz at the moment I can have difficulty coz of college (which may worsen next yr depending the contract i sign for my new 'house'; long story!!!)

Thanks Harley. I understand it with rainbow room etc. I just asked because of not having internet at home, so when I post a support thread I often subscribe to it so I can read replies on my e-mail on my phone until I'm able to sign in again (if that even made any sense). I eventually realised that it waited for me to sign in again, and just wondered if it was something to do with the way I set up my profile.

Anyways, a million thanks to all who have replied to my question, and repling to threads by e-mail is an awesome idea if the server is ever able to cope with it Harley!

This could be VERY helpful.
