I was an army cadet for a little while.
Being the only female in a bunch of hormonal teenage guys was not fun though.

Ooh I'd disagree...being the only female in a bunch of hormonal teenage guys was definately fun

I was in the sea cadets when I was 11-12 and then one day I got hit on the head with a snooker ball in the rec room and got taken to the hospital and while I was there I'd left my beret by the snooker table and it was stolen! I never went back after that.
Then joined the Army cadets at 13 until I was nearly 16.
Went on camp a few times and once went skiing too. Great times.

I used to be in the Air Cadets, in my youth. Many moons ago. Just call me Corporal!

I want to kiss the bottom of the ocean before I burst through its surface into the sunlight, otherwise I will always be wondering about what was left unseen at the bottom

i'm tired of chasing my dreams.
i'm just gonna ask where they're going,
and hook up with them later.

ok, me, no, never. but i have a funny story...

i was helping a group of younger kids on a hike a few years ago and i was walking at the back with a the 2 weakest girls while the other helper was walking up front and they told me this story. it always makes me giggle...

now at my old school, where all these kids came from, we all have to listen to an assembly in year 9 about air cadets (basicaly recruitment). they'd gone home and given their parents the newsletter containing this information about the assembly and joining instructions etc and both their dads had been really keen that they joined (one of them being an only child and the other an eldest child - kinda keeping some family tradition).

well...the night came and they dutifuly went to training, waved off by proud dads etc. this being the first night, and with the the combination of superiors wanting to assert authority, the amount of exercise for these (not very sporty) girls and them only having gone to please their dads, it wasn't surprising that they weren't keen on returning the next week. however, they had promised their parents.

the next week came by and they were again sent off with their money to training, dragging their feet. they got to the gates ok. then, remembering the pain and effort last time, looked at each other without much enthusiasm and wondered why they were spending the evening doing something their dads wanted to do, not them. they decided to sneak off now whilst they hadn't been seen and use the money meant for training to buy fish and chips instead

now that makes me giggle in itself to imagine these 2 really not wanting to go, getting there and deciding to occupy themselves with something more enjoyable. but whilst they were buying their fish and chips, the other new cadet wanabes got taken on a run past the chippy, forcing the girls to hide in some bushes in a panic to avoid being seen and made to join in!

hehe, i can just see them jumping into bushes with chips <imagines>. they didn't say how they eplained that one to their proud dads...

It's easier to run; Replacing this pain with something numb;It's so much easier to go;Than face all this pain here all alone;

Some people say courage is diving infront of a bullet, or bungy jumping off a bridge, but thats not true courage, true courage is facing everyday knowing that it won't be a happy go lucky day, but facing it anyway. It's facing your past, dealing with the present, and looking forward to brighter days.
