Has anyone any personal experience of Lofepramine?

*Delurks*

My psych is switching me to this, and taking me off fluoxetine, he says it has sedative effects but everything I've read says its non sedating?
Have any of you been on this? I'm also on Olanzapine, don't know how the two will interact with each other... guess I'm just curious to hear anyone elses experiences!

Thanks in advance

Boa

I've been on Lofepramine for yonks now (not convinced it's done anything but nm!)
It made me very tired the first few weeks I took it, but now I take 3 pills a night and it doesn't wear me out at all, it's the most side effect free of any tablet I've been on. One tip I'd say though is always swallow them with lots of water, I've got them stuck in my throat a few times and had chronic heartburn.

Good luck and I hope they help you

Wow that was a quick response Heidi thanks! I know it sounds a dim question but what were you put on it for? I mean as in Anxiety, or depression, or both...? I'm quite scared of coming off fluoxetine cos I feel it really helped with my anxiety... struggling with the depression aspect of things now though, and not sleeping despite the olanzapine being quite sedating... Worried that going on a different drug will make me go further downhill

Bit of both to be honest.
I think more depression than anxiety as I'm now on another pill to try quell my fears and surely he'd have taken me off them were it mainly for anxiety.

It's worth giving it a shot for sure, if you're really worried about going downhill whilst on it, maybe arrange to have weekly GP appointments so he can monitor you until they take effect.

I was on this for a short time - also told it was meant to be sedating but gave me verrrry bad insomnia. But then I have weird reactions to lots of drugs.

Hope it works well for you

Hi I took Lofepramine for a while last year but i didnt help so i have been switched back to a higher dose of fluoxetine. I also take olanzapine and the two meds didnt appear to interact in anyway.

Hope it helps!

Lofepramine

Hi

I was on this on 2 occasions. The first time when I had PND and I found it really useful as it completely numbed me from all the awful things happening around me. I was on it for about a year. I didn't notice any side effects.

The 2nd time I went on it about 10 years later, for a few months and this time I noticed that it really messed up my sleeping patterns and made me sweat profusely. It didn't really do a lot for me and I soon came off them.

Sorry I haven't been muchh use.

I've just come off it because it wasn't helping me much at all. I felt some reduced anxiety to begin with but it didn't last for long.

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
