Ferret Excitement and such

So, I rescued an abandoned ferret a few years ago now, abandoned and hit by a car, took him to the RSPCA and he was later re-homed, but I wanted to keep that ferret so much, and have had a passion for them since. I love their cheekiness, and general nature.
And now, being 16, nearly 17, and knowing soo much as I do now, I have asked my dad if I can have a pet ferret... and he said yes, so now I'm extremely excited, though I probably won't get one until summer, when I can dedicate quality time to nip and litter training.
I want to know whether anyone else loves ferrets, or has experiences of them.

I've never owned one but I think they're so cool. You'll have to post pictures when you get one because they're also incredibly cute.

i love love love them. I asked for one for christmas for the last 3 years, but was told no chance while living at home. Sucks

I did own one for a while in my friends house. They are so funny. Just dont wear white socks when you are around them. They like to play eat your foot if you do. Also make sure all small gaps are shut off as ours climbed into the fireplace thing and we had to take the whole thing off the wall. Oh and they smell really bad so make sure you get them neuted.

^^^ I already knew all those things :) I also know you have to have a female spayed, as once it comes into heat, if unmated, it causes a potentially fatal hormone imbalance D:
I have photos of my rescued ferret somewhere that I will post if I can find them. Poor thing has a nose bleed at the time though. There'll be plenty of pictures when I get it, if I can ferret proof my bedroom in time, might get it for easter.

Ferrets are great pets, i have 2 now. My oldest one fraggle is about 7 years old now and still leaping round like a mad thing. absolute nutters when you got 2 of them playing together.

I only have a small amount of space, and money, so I'm only going to have the one.

Once you get your setup and get it spayed/neutered they arent that expensive. I get a 5kg bag of food and it lasts over 2 months..only £15.

When I first saw the thread I thought it said "Ferret Excrement and such"

I was thinking "what are those RYL kids up to now!?"

I always thought ferrets were cool but they get into to many things. I would probably close a cupboard on one and lose it.

spays are more expensive, im not sure how much it is to get them neutered because mines are both little girls. When i got my last one done it was around £65-70. it is quite expensive unfortunately.

well start saving now for things like neutering and what not and what the time comes you should be able to afford a second one for company as you will have spread the cost.
Never had a ferret but assuming they like rats, their general up keep is not expensive and all, just the set up and general vets bills, so always make sure to keep some money aside, just in case.
