Triggering (SI/Substance abuse) - Help me please

I've never posted on this part of the forum before, I didn't even know it was here...
My BF has a drinking problem, he has admitted it. But I think he is in denial when it comes to getting help...I don't really know how to provide some support for him (as he has been here to support me with SI). If anyone can give me some advice as to how I can understand/support him, I would be greatful.

With alcoholics/people with drinking problems, I find it to be rather tricky. Especially if they're in denial, and it really depends on what type of drinker/drunk they are.

Is he angry, or hostile at times? If him drinking excessively is brought up, how does he react? The way you handle things really depends on how he's going to react.

I think that he is a binge drinker, not really sure though...He is only angry or hostile either when he is drunk or when he has a really bad urge. It's pretty bad, he can't trust me with razor blades and I can't trust him with mouth wash. He is in denial to a certain extent. And he changes the subject usually wuiet quickly. How do I convince him to go get help??? I already made the first step for myself now I want to try to help him make that same first step. Thank-you for helping me. I have no experience when it comes to alcohol.

One of the fundamental characteristics of alcoholism is denial, and the refusal of any help, which is why this kind of situation is tricky. He needs an incentive. Does he have any dreams or ambitions he'd like to achieve?

Having not had much luck with a similar problem to your own, I don't think I can be of much help, but I just wanted to wish you luck. You're a great girlfriend to want to help him, and I hope you can work something out.
