Triggering (SI/Substance abuse) - I think the drink's becoming a problem...
Even when I was underage I'd drink and get drunk, but it was never anything bad, as such... but since I've moved out I drink pretty much every day and the ones where I don't seem like hell. I'm starting to think its affecting my coursework, but I don't want to tell the lecturer I'd have to go see and say because she's gossipy and either wouldn't believe me or tell everybody. My best friend is in a mess and drinking heavily right now too since her dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour and won't make it to Christmas.
It's difficult, but I don't want to be a burden on people or dissapoint them. I just don't really know what to do. Christmas is going to be difficult as I'll be back home with my parents and brother and I don't want to be getting drunk or sneaking around behind their backs. I'd only hurt them.
I just feel like more of a failure. I'm lying in bed ill today and I can't drink or it'll mess with the medication... it's at a point where I drink when I get up and I drink before I go to sleep.
i'd only come here seeking peace i'd only come here seeking me it seems i came to leave
Hey, It sounds like you need to see if you can go without drink for awhile and then decide from there what to do depending wether or not you can make it.
Maybe see if you can go a week without drinking, remembering that the first few days might be hard. If you can't do it then prehaps a trip to the doctors or AA might help?
You can get out of this though, I'm living proof.
I used to drink everyday, turn up at college drunk from the night before etc and craving drink. I decided that I didn't want this and stopped before I got in too deep and this is how I stopped. It's a good job really cause, I can still drink socially.
Look after yourself and good luck with it all.

Life can be beautiful if you let it.
Step back, breathe and take it in
Thank you for the advice :) I'm going to try my best at this, I've only been sober a day and a half so far and it's a little difficult and not impressive0 but I suppose the biggest journeys start with the smallest steps.

I've been sober in AA for a while. It helps me not just not drink, but helps me figure out what emotions lead me to drink so that i don't have to.
My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

A day and a half is something to be proud of :)

:) Thank you <3
I was handed a drink at the funeral on Saturday, and I drank that which wasn't good but I haven't drank since. And I'm making a concious effort not to. Since I'm home for the holidays too, I've asked my parents to make sure I can't get near the alcohol cupboard.

At least you stopped at one, and it was at a funeral so it's pretty understandable. Well done though, it's good you have your parents to help and such :)
