Is this normal?

I saw my GP a few months ago, she referred me to a psychiatrist at a mental health clinic, who I saw about 2 weeks ago. The psych decided to refer to to a counsellor, but told me it would take about 1-2 months for me to hear anything.

But yesterday I got a letter from my local health centre saying I need to make an appointment with my GP to discuss a letter she has recieved from the mental health team.

I don't really get why my GP needs to see me again, to be honest. I thought it would be out of her hands now as she referred me to a psych.

GPs and psych.s usually communicate. You see your psych every few months, and your GP inbetween. That's how it usually is, anyway.

GPs are liaised information back from anyone else you are referred to so will have information about anyone you have seen or will be seeing. This is probably why you have been asked to see your GP as they will have the letter and want to discuss it with you. GPs are kind of like the 'base' that everything gets linked back to, if that makes sense.

Thanks. I just assumed I wouldn't have to see my GP again, but that does make sense.
