Hey,

I am not familair with the meds you are on but it sounds like your body is missing them. Can you take an alternative? Talk to your doctor about the side effects that you have and maybe they could give you something else.
I know what you mean about talking on the phone but please try to give the counsellor a call, maybe you could arrange a face to face meeting with them.

Most of all, very well done for doing so well at everything else, you have got out and made friends who will be there for you. Don't be ashamed to tell them if you need a shoulder to lean on, that's what friends are for.

x

I'm not sure if it's the same med, and just spelling, or a different med, but I was on Mirtazapine for quite a while and to begin with it made me feel really drowsy as well, so I took it in the evening, but after a while I stopped getting the drowsy side-effects from taking it.

If the meds were helping, then maybe talk to your dr about going back on them at a reduced dose and building up gradually in order to get the benefits without the sudden side-effects.

Congratualations for getting to uni and being so involved with all your activities there. That is really good, and a massive achievement in and of itself.

Can you only talk to the counsellor on the phone, or can you see her in person? If you would only need to phone in order to make an appointment maybe you could ask a friend to phone for you, or just bite-the-bullet and call yourself(i do understand about hating phones-I avoid using them as much as possible myself-except for texting)?

Take care huni and please throw away the pills and the blades. Having them around makes it too easy to do something on impulse, whereas if you have to actually go out and buy some it gives you more head-space to think about what youa re doing.

*hugs*

Ruth

The drowsy effects of Mirtazapine only lasts a few weeks and then it wears off, talking from experience [I'm on the same thing]
Are you due to see your CPN again any time soon?

im bk at home on the 18th of december and im seeing my psychiatrist then and my cpn on the 7th jaunary. the drowsy ness the day after have never stopped with me even when i was taking them properly for over a year. it makes me sooooo tired the next day even though i have 12 hours sleep. ive managed to get a walk in app with the counsellor at the uni on friday so ill have to go then if i dont chicken out. i dont like leaning on people because i become dependant quite easily and it freaks people out and they r only just getting to know them. they have had to put up with alot of my **** allready from home with things going wrong there. i cant bring myself to chuck the blades n pills away. i dont wanna do nething silly but i feel like im on a train going a thousand miles per hour and cant get off. sorry to winge i need to man up

You are not wingeing :)
Please try and go to the counsellor and let us know how you get on.
Maybe try putting the pills and blades somewhere where you would have to actively go and get them if you can't bear to throw them away. Perhaps locked in a jewellery box with the key put somewhere else, so you would have to work to get them.

*big hugs*

If they make you that drowsy for that long then you need to ask for a change. Ive been on Mirtz too. Nom nom orangy. Didnt work on me at all but my god i wanted sugar!

There are other meds in that family that you can take with less drowsy side effects im sure. Pills affect people differently. Some pills completely knock me out, whereas others dont. If you need to function and they are causing you distress then ask to get them changed. Be firm and the doc should comply. Its seriously not advisable to just stop taking them. Its probably the main cause of your slump right now.
