Stupid question!!!
This is probably a really stupid question but I'm blonde so I take a while to cop onto things! Ha ha! If there is a yellow discharge around a cut, does that always mean its infected or is that only in some cases? Btw does anybody know if you can buy steri strips in shops cause I usually get them off my aunt hus a doctor but its really awkward asking her...

Hiya,
I get steri strips from asda, if it's yellow discharge around the cut, I would say it is infected, if you've only just done it and it's yellow it could be fat.
Take care,

please do not put sterri strips onto the cut as it sounds like its infected and if u put the strips onto the cut it will then close the infection inside your body i woud just suggest u put a absorbent dressing onto the cut eg. melonin please dont put cottenwool onto the ciut as it will cause more dammige to the cut and get it more infected i also suggest you change your dressing atleast 3times a day and wash the cut throughly with dialuted tcp make sure its dialuted please i hope this has helped ifnot i am sorry i am currently training at st johns ambulace just so u know its not of he top of my head :)

Is the discharge thick yellow? or is it more like a clear with a tint of yellow?
Also is the area around the cut red, swollen or hot?
Is there an increased amount of pain around the wound?
If you suspect a wound to have an infection you should not use steri strips on it. Also steri strips should only be used upto 24 hours after the wound was made.
For future refernce, most chemists do sell steri strips. Last time i was in boots they where about £7 for two packet.
