Triggering (Suicide) - I CAN"T Go to the Hospital, but...I May Need It

I have been cutting a great deal lately...so deeply, that I have had to go to the Emergency Room, which I hate. I try to take care of cuts myself, but they have just been too large and too deep as of this past month.

After being sewn up by the nurse, I am asked by the emergency room conselor, "Was this a sucide attempt?"

I always say that it is not an attempt....but....that's a lie. It is. It is, and the worse part is I know that it will just keep happening, and unless I succeed I will just keep lying to stay out of the hospital.

There are plenty of times that I cut just to have relief, but lately...I cut just to end it all. I either want to die, or keep trying...but I refuse to go to the hospital. I went a few times last year...and I do NOT want to go ever again. I missed a year of school due to being hospitalized (Although it was only for a week at a time, my parents believed I needed a year off to focus solely on recovery...I tried so hard, but it didn't work. I did the therapy, took the meds, exersied, met new people, tried to keep a good sleep schedule, eat right, tried to be proactive.)

I hate the hospital! It is so scary! I can't miss school...I simply can't. It probably makes no sense, saying how much college means to me yet often I just want to die.

I am probably one of the biggest hypocrites ever. I run a site that supports people with borderline personality disorder, such as myself. I help people who feel that they simply cannot go on with their lives. I have straight A's in college. I do volunteer work, and I know that there are so many people so worse off than myself.

I can't shake this aweful feeling of wanting to die. I keep attempting, although no one knows it, and everyone that knows me thinks I am just being careless with my self harming behaviors.

I am lost, and I hate myself for it. I am a horrible person for having these sort of thoughts. I just don't know what to do anymore.

I need to get some sort of help, but I really don't want the answer to be hospitalization. What can I do?

I don't have much of a response but I wanted to say that I did read this. I know how hard it can be. Like ruined08 said maybe you should talk to your doctor or whomever you see and try to come up with options.

I told my parents the truth. Now I am stuck at the same crummy college I am at now, and they won't pay for it. They also said I might need to find myself another place to live, because they cannot handle a nutjob like me anymore.

Now, I am drunk for the first time in my life (I discovered I destest the taste of alcohol) and I have taken some anti-anxiety meds. I am numb now...but I'm sure that will fade by tomorrow.

So much for the truth setting you free. What a load of garbage.

Where you live, is there a crisis team or a home treatment team available? They are the alternative to hospitalisation, they come to your house every day to make sure you are okay.

Perhaps say to your doctor what you have said here. Most doctors will look to hospital as the last resort, anyway.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Sorry to hear about your esclating harming

Glad things sort of better with your parents but would still be an idea to get some sort of support system that works for you, do you have anyway?

hope you can stay ok

I'm glad things are looking up, but the crisis team sounds like a good idea for you.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
