I am currently:
Triggering (SI/ED) - problems with my local AMHT

ok, i guess im writing because i was wondering if there are people in the same position as me.

I've been struggling alot recently and ive been asking for help from my local AMHT only to be told there isnt the funding or to call when im down etc etc...the thing is, its not helpful.
i can call them, yes, but i dont get the support i need.
i dont see a psychiatrist, my mental health team consists of an occupational therapist.
thats it.
i went to see a dietician to try and help with my eating and was told it was only a one off appointment because there is no funding for ED's in my area. then i find out that there is someone in Herne Bay but i have to have a lower BMI than i have to get the help.
my selfharming is getting worse and ive had numerous trips to my local hospital but it still doesnt make a blind bit of difference.
my GP doesnt help.
i get to see my therapist once a fortnight now but before it was once every month or so...it went up to once a fortnight because of my low mood and thats as much help as i can get.

anybody else live in this area and experiencing the same? or anyone in the same position in another area?

anyone got any advice on what i coud do?
im in such a bad place right now, im desperate.

Can you ask them to be referred to a psychiatrist? Or ask your GP to be referred? I think everyone has the right to see a psychiatrist. Also talk to them and see if you can have a keyworker or CPN and not just an OT.

Funding unfortunately is an issue in most CMHTs as they only have a limited supply of money. However, as I have done, if you need the funding for something specific, get a family member or someone close to you to write to the funding board explaining how much you need that funding and what might happen if you don't get it. It helps.

Some people I know have even had appeals and gone to court trying to get funding for going into certain hospitals.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
