Probably a daft question, but....*long*

So, since I've been back at uni, I've obviously been away from my normal psych and stuff at home, and they thought that I needed someone here, because things have been quite bad.

So, off I went, to see the new psych, and things didn't go too well, in all honesty, I felt like she was ignoring what I was saying and just trying to pass me off as a stereotypical student, basically, that all my problems were caused by a lack of money and an excess of alcohol. Anyway, they never sent me another appointment or anything, so my GP rang up and it turns out that the doctor who I is now involved in a research project and is away from the clinic for 6-8 months, and I have now been transferred to yet another new psych. In many ways I guess that this is a good thing that I get a chance to try an explain myself again, but I have a few worries, and I wondered if anyone could help me clarify a few things.

First of all, because it is at the same clinic, will the new psych simply go off the notes that the original one made, or will they do their own initial assessment and go from there?
Also, what happens when the original doctor comes back, will I be transferred back onto her lists, which is something that I really don't want, or will I stay with the new psych?

I guess I'm just a bit worried, because at home I've had the same psych for 2 years, and now I'll have seen two within the space of 2 months, and I don't really know what's happening.

Sorry that this is so long, thanks guys

The new psych will look over the notes that have already been made, but Im sure that they will ask you more questions and it would be good to tell them how you feel again. Im not sure what will happen when the old psych comes back, maybe that would be a question to ask your new psych, you could always request to stay with the new psych, im sure there wouldnt be a problem. Im not going to pretend to know how you are feeling but I can identify where you are coming from, I had to be transferred from one psych to another because I was transferred from CAMHS to adult psych. Its not easy to open up to a new person, espcially when you dont particularly like them, I had that problem with an old psych. Hopefully this new psych will be someone that you can talk to. Make sure that you get the care that you need, you are important and if you're not getting the right amount of support, then you need to let them know. Hope this helps a bit.

God Bless

Thanks, that does help a lot, I didn't realise that I had any say over who I saw, but I guess that's because at home my psych was ace!!

I guess it's just a case of seeing how it goes!

Yeah I think if you like this new psych, you can ask to stay with them instead of moving back.

The new psych will read your old notes but will no doubt ask you questions of their own to get to know you firsthand.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
