Anxiety / Depression help needed.

Firstly I must say, thank you for making this forum, its very reassuring for me to find other people that are trying to overcome their symptoms. (Too)

So where do I begin? I have been suffering from Anxiety and Depression for almost a year now (maybe even longer, but I have not been aware of it), I am taking medication (Mirtizipine) however I do at times doubt it works that well, as I still having feelings of Anxiety daily.

Basically I am wondering if I am taking the wrong medicine, or do I grin and bear with it (easier typing that than applying it)

As previously my depression was severe, although my depression has lifted somewhat, and my mood has lifted to where it was previously, (or at least near too) my Anxiety is still as high as it was when I begun. (the medication)

I have attended a number of counseling (sp) sessions, and to be honest got some great lessons on how to deal with panic attacks, and how to combat the general feelings of anxiety I have. Sadly nothing yet has "cured me". The feelings of anxiety I have are

"the feeling that I am going to die"
this feeling can last anything from half an hour, or longer I feel completely ridiculous at times as I can not enjoy things as much as I used to, for example

"I cant watch horror movies any longer, as they just aggravate any thoughts I am having."

Like I said I have been dealing with this for a year now, and I guess now I am getting used to it now, although when the Anxiety occurs it feels absolutely horrible and real, and after I feel stupid at myself.

I look forward to any advice, and comments.

hey hun...

are you still undergoing therepy sessions? depression and anxiety can be a long and painful duration unfortunatly!

i suggest maybe going to your doctot or your CPN (if you have one) and discuss your medication as your anxiety levels are not easing off any!!

im glad you found good therpey techniques to deal with panic attacks, maybe some more therpy is needed to help you overcome any of fears and worries?

To be honest I ended the Therapy sessions as I felt like we where covering the same ground over again and again, and to be honest I'm not the best social speaker anyway, so sadly the sessions where never that constructive.
(my own fault I admit, but I always have been this way)

Adding to the original post, I have side effects to the medicine (or at least I think they are side effects) which include dizzy spells, pins and needles, and heart racing, which only add to the feelings of anxiety I have (as you can imagine) Its like a vicious circle.
