Sleep (or lack thereof)
Does anyone have any advice on how to fix my horrible sleep patterns?
For the past 3 days since a significant grief/trauma, I have been unable to sleep at night, and end up just lying in bed fidgeting and then crying. Then I sleep through the day, so making it even harder for me to sleep the next night. It sucks, and I know you're just going to say 'wake up early', but I physically can't. Its like trying to swim up from the bottom of the ocean while carry a 100 ton weight. Thats how exhausted I get.
Thanks if anyone replies to this rambling. x

Not everyone is the same or reacts the same way after dealing with something like this, so this is a tough one. What I would tell you is, if you have the time, be patient with yourself. It isn't uncommon to have trouble sleeping at night after a trauma.
It may also help to see and talk to a doctor who can prescribe a medication for sleep to take for a short time or until you feel you don't need it anymore.
I'm sorry you are struggling. *hugs* I hope you know we are here to listen/read about anything you want to share...
Take good care of yourself,

Thanks Secret, I think I will ask the doctor about some pills for a while, just to get back on track. Just hope that I don't get addicted, I have an addictive personality.

If you are worried about becoming addicted to a medication that is something you should tell the doc. There are many subscription, but non-habit forming, sleep aides that work very well for most people.
Hope all goes well,

**hugs** I know how hard it can be to sleep after a trauma and as SecretMe has said thats quite a normal reaction..that said, if youre sleeping problems are so great that youre struggling to function w daytoday activities then I also think it'd be a good idea to talk to your GP about medication, at least in the shortterm...also, have you got a counsellor/psych or someone you can speak to about the trauma to help you process it? c os this will help improve your sleeping in the longrun. take care and pm me if you want to talk more:)
