Triggering (SI) - chat rooms- trigered- freaked out.

been in chat rooms- serious discussion.
was dooing ok up till recently, been focusing on other things(distractions), then i thoguth hey im okay- so yup then maybe i could help people. decided to try but now im back where i begun wanting to harm cos its in my mind again and seems an esay solution. plus lost has happened recently with my family and me thats not good. need to do soemthing but not sure what0its 2am, cant sleep, cant talk to poepl cos thy asleep. really didint know that i could be triggereed like this. i know i shouldn tcut but whtas there to do...

Hey Hon,

You aren't back where you started, far from it. You are having an intense urge but it doesn't mean that you have to self harm, or that you are back where you started.

I'm sorry you were triggered, although I am glad you know what triggered you as it will be helpful for you. It's ok that you are unable to go in to triggering chatrooms, please don't feel as if you are doing anything wrong. I think it's strong that you recognise what has triggered you and it sounds like you were avoiding this trigger, so please try and carry on avoiding it.

Intense urges are really horrible to deal with and it's a credit to you that you are fighting such an urge. It's especially hard seeing as everyone else is sleeping and you can't, but try to think of it as a short time - in say, 3/4 hours people will start waking up and you won't be alone.
In the mean time, try and distract yourself. You could distract yourself on RYL, do homework/coursework, watch TV, read a book - anything to keep your mind off the urge, even if it just lessens it a little bit.

You can get through this,

I am currently:

*Cuddles you* Im sorry your struggling. Its good that you have recognized what it was that triggered you. Your not back to where you started your having severe urges but it doesnt mean you cant get through it or that your back to square one. Its best to avoid going in to the chat rooms for now otherwise you may trigger yourself again. Do you have any proffessional support?

Is there anyone you can talk to? Please dont harm yourself in any way it will only make things worse. Try to keep yourself distracted as much as you can you may find it helpful to have a look at the big distractions page http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum...ead.php?t=1403 or the fun and distractions forum http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum...splay.php?f=23 keep fighting through these urges i know its hard but dont give up, these urges wont be around forever they will fade away. It's okay to need a break from supporting others at times, or to not go into rooms that could trigger you. To be able to help others, we must know how to help ourselves - so I'm really proud of you for being able to try and keep fighting these urges and taking care of yourself.

thanks all, yeas i do have a conselloer- told him bout he SI he said it was pretty normal cosiderin my life and left it at that. should prob tell him more but its really hard to. today i feel betta have had a pretty good day- chilled out with friiends and stuff. amd yeah i am slowly learing what can trigger me and the times (of the day) when im most vanurnable.
