why is it? [time and depression]

Why is it that when you're feeling depressed, low, distressed, panicky and so forth... time goes really slowly...

... and when you're feeling stable and alert and well, time goes too fast?

That's what I'm experiencing... right now, the time going too fast, and I'm going through a steady patch.

Anyone else find this?

Tell me about it. I've had a **** weekend and it has been soooo soooo long!
I hate it.

I want to kiss the bottom of the ocean before I burst through its surface into the sunlight, otherwise I will always be wondering about what was left unseen at the bottom

i'm tired of chasing my dreams.
i'm just gonna ask where they're going,
and hook up with them later.

I think the same thing all the time.
I think its because when you feel crappy, you're more focused on time, so it seems to pass slowly.

Yeah. I was feeling a bit anxious this afternoon so did some hoovering to pass the time, but it seemed I did the hoovering very quickly and then had hours to pass doing nothing.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Feeling crappy means you're looking forward to something to cheer you up - hence the focusing on time.

I tend to find I spend the whole week wishing my life away to see my therapist or doctor and the weeks go slowly because of this. yes depressed time is slower psychologically than good times as you are not watching time passing when your enjoying yourself.

You'll be surprised to know how far you can go from the point where you thought it was the end.
