Panic Attack at work

I had an almighty panic attack at work last night and i feel so so bad about it.

I have been feeling ill anyway, but by the time i got too work and it was really hot and busy i just totally lost it in the staff room, was in floods of tears, breathing eratically, shaking like a leaf and was in a hot/cold sweat.

It was just so embarressing. I haven't had a panic attack for a while now, and i only started this job a month ago after having six months off because of bad anxiety. I'm still on my probationary period, and i hope this wont affect it.

I'm just feeling pretty crap about the whole thing just now.

hugs appreciated.

Panic attacks are nothing to be ashamed of. ((gentle hug))

I do understand how distressing they can be. It's understandable that you'd have one - just starting back, getting hot and crowded out.

Do you have any strategies in place to manage things if you feel unwell like that again? Do you have any medication you can take 'as needed'? Rescue Remedy is good too.

I only have diazapam, and it does funny things too me. yes it calms me down, but it really mongs me out for hours, which is why im not keen too take it.

I've never really learnt any coping techniques for it, other than 'avoid the situation that makes you scared'. which isn't always a good thing.

I'm just coming to the end of my lunchbreak at work myself right now, but I'll reply properly when I get home this evening.

What worries you the most?
Do you have any adjustments in place at work, from after your time off, to help you cope?
