Is Birmingham nice to stay in?
I don't actually live in Birmingham but I go to uni near here and socialise in Brum sometimes. The shopping centre is amazing! And the night life is pretty good too. It's a big city so there are nice parts and not so nice parts. Selly Oak is a very popular student area from what I gather, not to expensive but pretty safe and an easy commute into the centre.
Are the Uni's Down there Really good?
*cough Warwick cough* Lol, I go to Warwick so I am biased but I guess it depends what you mean by good. If you mean league table wise then University of Birmingham and University of Warwick are both good with good reputations.
Wheres the best Uni to go to?
For what? Which subject? What type of uni i.e campus or non campus? It will surely depend what grades you are predicted and what you want to study.
Is Halls Of residance he best thing to do in First year Uni?
I think it is. I think being in Halls helps you to make friends as well as being really convenient for lectures etc. You also have support in the form of resident tutors etc in halls.
What is there to do In Birmingham?
It's a big city so there is lots to do. Shops, ice rink, cinemas, clubs, bars, a big concerty arena thing. Is there anything in particular you are interested in?
Does anyone in Vets Live in Birmingham????
Hells lives pretty much in Brum and I go to Warwick uni so am about 20 min train journey away from Birmingham New street station. I'm sure there are some others too.
Depends on what you want and what sort of lifestyle you lead.
Ive lived there most of my life and alas im no longer there now.
The unis have a good reputation. Birmingham excells in some areas. Shopping is top class and the nightlife has something for everyone from Dance to jazz to classical to roots and soul and reggae to off beat.
Comedy clubs and cinemas. A few good restaurants. The BEST balti houses in Britian (Royal Naim in Sparkhill).
If you are a culture vulture there are galleries and museums an excellent art school and a good live music scene.
If you are a tredy wendy it has some of the best house nights in the country and all the usual glitzy bars.
Its student heaven too with loads of cheap student nights all over the place.
Just out of town is Mosely Village which is Brums bohemian centre. Its like sa little hippy micro village..
Theres some really rough areas and some posh areas and its heavily ethnically populated, Pakistani, west indian and Indian.
I dont live there any more but Field of Paper flowers can fill you in on it a bit more than me. Im also old so probably well out of it.
But its a nice city and has really come a long way from the culturally devoid **** hole it was 10 years ago!
Dont know anything about birmingham, but i lived in the same area that you are in( i think i am thinking of the right person) before i moved to a fairly large town 600 miles away and this move will hopefully be the change that you need. Living in northern scotland can and will drive you mad at times.
i'm from brum - but left about 10 years ago... thought i'd never live there again, but i think when i move back to the uk it will be well up my list...
especially mosely (i guess i am one of those bohemian types matthew talks about)...
the last 10 years has seen LOADS of investment in the city... new bullring shopping centre... fab cafes and bars along the renovated canal. when i go visit i can't believe it is the same place.
uni wise birmingham uni is the top one in the city i think, altho birmingham city uni (confusingly similar) is also good (i think it used to be university of central england), and aston uni is also there. someone said warwick is commutable.
and if you're not into city life, its ok cuz you can get to the countryside really quickly from the centre (eg the fabulous clent hills...).
Is Birmingham nice to stay in?
It certainly is, although I've got a bias opinion cos I've never lived anywhere other than Birmingham! There are dodgy areas, but there is in every city isn't there.
Are the Uni's Down there Really good?
There are many good unis here. Each one is better for something different.
Wheres the best Uni to go to?
It depends what you want to do. Birmingham Uni tends to be the best uni, however Newman is better for teaching as it's a specialist teaching uni (where I go) But you're bound to find a uni here that suits you.
Is Halls Of residance he best thing to do in First year Uni?
I personally think it is. When I went to uni before, I stayed in halls and it was a guaranteed way to make loads of friends and do things that you wouldn't normally get the chance to do. I live at home now I'm going to Newman, and although it has it's good sides, I do feel like I'm missing out on things because I'm not on campus. It's personal preference really.
What is there to do In Birmingham?
What isn't there to do would be a better question! We've got everything here. Theme parks, restaurants, shopping (a.k.a The Bull Ring!), Bowling, Ice skating, we've got the snow dome for skiing etc. And loads more.
Does anyone in Vets Live in Birmingham????
Me! Well I don't post in vets, but technically I'm a vet cos I'm 22. But there are more of us too.

Birmingham city uni is different to the bigger birmingham uni isn't it?
I am currently in my first year at a smaller uni in Birmingham, I am right in the city centre in my halls and I am loving it. This is coming from a girl that moved here from London so therefore moved to a smaller city.
I like the fact that I can walk to anywhere I need to basically and if not there is good public transport. The shopping is amazing and clubs and bars are so cheap, especially on student nights.
I cannot imagine anyone not finding something to do that they enjoy!
I've lived in Birmingham for five years and I love it. Before this, I lived on the Isle of Wight, and found it a shock moving to a city, but got used to it easily enough and love it now.
The Unis are good, i'm at Newman which is popular for education and sports studies. BCU is good, as is Aston and University of Birmingham is one of best in country.
The shops are great, and there is a really friendly atmosphere. its a nice place to live.
sorry, Im utterly useless for info; i live in canada, but i just wanted to wish you the best and suggest maybe seeing if the town/city/whatever has a chamber of commerce that should have a website with pics and information of the area
good luck
let us know how you like it!

Actually i owned a house in Coventry and the ARe some nice parts. I was in Earlsdon and thats a lovely place!! Also you have the rather marvelous Craven street with a load of good old fashined pubs within 2 mins of each other all serving a decent pint.
Sure cov aint the prettiest of places but considering it was totally flattened during the3 war and then subjected to the disasters of 60's post modernism its not suprising its a little grey in parts.
The only truely dreadful thing about the place is the football team. Well thats an oxymoron to put coventry and football in the same sentence but some people seem to think they qualify :P
