sertraline and side affects help please!

Hi Guys! I desperatley need some advice! I started sertraline 50mg on wednesday after being taken of fluoxitine. Im having really bad sleep disturbance. I woke up the other night absolutley frightened that id hurt my daughter. Then last night i just could not sleep at all and felt at about 2am in the morning that i was somebody else and was going all confused and my heart was pumping and pumping.And for sum reason i thought i had, had an out of body experience. Is this just sleep disturbance as im only doing this at the night. But as you can imagine its frightning and really scaring me. Deep down i no i would not hurt anybody or myself but why is the feeling still there. I just feel like stopping these tablets but i no i cant cope with out them as i have really bad anxciety and ocd. My days are normally horrible of me feeling like im going insane, confused, shakey and many more which is why i do need some sort of medication to help me. Please can someone help me. Have you ever had this???????

Who prescribed the Sertraline for you? I would advise you to go back to see whoever prescribed it and talk about what you are experiencing.

It was my GP that prescribed it! He said he thought it would be ok for me. And im having a really bad day today. I feel all panicy and confused and feel like i am going to have a panic attack. I also feel like im going to collapse!

hey... im sorry to hear your feeling like this... when i first was put on setraline i kept on waking up in the middle of the night... maybe three or four times a night in a cold sweat and my heart was going mad going really fast... within time this soon went away and now im on 300mg (i think) they never took me off it even tho i wanted too but because i was in hospital at the time they thought it would eventually stop... im not sure if this will be the same for you pet as each persons different but like control freak said id go back to your GP and explain to him whats happening and maybe he'll perscribe your something else...

if youre having bad side effects go back to the doctor hunny, medication isnt the same for everyone.
when i was on sertraline the side effects were that bad they thought i was bipolar (manic ect). I dont actualy remeber anything from the time i was on them =\. But as soon as i came of them the side effects stopped.

you need to go back to the gp and tell them what is happening to you hunny.

There's nothing more we can say to you other than advise you to go back to your GP/Psychiatrist and explain how difficult you're finding the side effects.
