A question I would like to pose...
Ok, I think by now everybody knows I'm getting married in December.
I think I'm too late to change my name now, but I just wanted to know how I go about it when I do?
By too late, I mean my passport. They only do it up to 3 months before the ceremony and I have less than two. (Scary >.<)
But yes, anyone?
Haha.

I'm changing my name too and I was tld you can't actually do it until you've got the certifcate! So I just got told that all that stuff will be done after the ceremony and that I should make sure that our honeymoon flights are booked in my maiden name :P

You can always get it changed afterwards but, even if you're flying using your married name, i think they're fine with you having a passport in your married name. Would be worth ringing up your local passport office to find out. :)

Phone up the passport office and checl with the airline you are going to fly with what the rules are. The last thing you want is to arrive and check-in for your honeymoon to find you got it wrong.

The honeymoon tickets will be in my maiden name. So that's not a worry. I didn't intend to do all of this until afterwards.
I just don't know how the process works, start to finish.
Like I know I don't need a deed poll or anything like that but I wasn't sure what I DID need to do lol.
Still none the wiser.

I changed my name a couple of years ago after I got married -
You can order a new passport upto 3 months before the ceremony which is post dated to the date of the ceremony but as the tickets are in your maiden name that doesn't matter...
Anyway - After you have been married all you will need is your marriage certificate (& your current passport) You can pick up a form from any postoffice or complete online & they will send it to you to sign & send back with the documents.

My passport expired so I had to get a new one & change my name & go all the way up to london to stand in a queue to get the thing 3 days before my holiday it cost a fortune! But if you have an existing passport it should cost you about £70.
anyway - hope that helps xxx

you need to change:
NHS card (you should receive a new one that is amended)
National Insurance Card
Driving License
Dentist's, Dr's, Optician's etc
Bank accounts
Passport
Any other forms of ID
Car/House Insurance
can't think of more right now... but there's lots.
Draft a letter and leave the adressee blank, then print off a load and just write a different person on the top of each.

You can't issue new NI cards?! It's just that they change the records, surely?! All our info with NI numbers on is fine..

I thought they wouldn't be able to change your NI card?
How odd.
I'm just going to wait until after the ceremony when I have all the relevant proof I need. Much easier.
Thank you so much for the advice though, I shall do a screen dump of this page and save it for when I'm ready to take on more stress!
This wedding malarky is haaard! Lol.
But it should be a fabulous day.
So it will all be worth it, it will all be worth it, it will all be worth it...

You can't change it before hand anyways iz! Well you can't in Aus. I asked and they said you actually need your marraige cert to PROVE you've been married! So yesh.
I totaly understand the wedding rubbish though >.< I think mine is all set now...

How excited are you Jess? On a scale of 1 to 10?
I'm still so stressy and nervous that there is only room for a little bit of excitement!

Haha. I think my head only has room for a 5.
I have so much going on and some important stuff left to do and if yours is the 8th and that's 6 weeks away...holy cow. That makes mine 7.
*worries*
