I am currently:
diazepam and Temazepam

Hi

For the past couple of weeks i have been having trouble sleeping and was originally prescribed Zopiclone which didnt have any effect. Then i was prescribed Diazepam which in the past has helped but this time this also had no effect.

So getting to my point.....today the dr prescribed me Temazepam to see if that would work.

Two things really.......

I fDiazepam didnt work then is it really possible for Temazepam to work are they not basically the same thing?

Also has anyone ever had experience of this drug?

Thanks

Shelley

I've heard of Temazepam working in people where Diazepam has made them worse although personally, Temazepam did nothing for me and niether did Diazepam.
I definately think it's worth a shot though because you've got nothing to lose & I have heard it working in lots of people.

I think it's worth giving it a go, diazepam and temazepam can't be exactly the same or they'd both be called the same thing!

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

diazepam is a long acting benzo which is any its usually used for anxiety.
temazepam is short acting which is why its only used at night as a hypnotic. you are more likely to feel the effects more suddenly than with diaz, so its very possibly to work even though diaz didnt.

Dramatic

Diazepam doesn't work at all for me, i've been prescribed it many times and it's simply never helped.

Temazepam was prescribed for me about 3 months ago for the first time, i joked to my GP that i felt it wouldn't work and that if it didn't could he possibly run me over several times with a double decker bus to put me to sleep!
However, they DID work, i was told to take them for 4 nights in a row, then off for 4 nights, but i found by the 3rd night they weren't working, so i'd only take them for 2 nights, leave it a few nights, then go back to it.
I found them more effective for me this way.

They definatly help though and it's worth giving them ago.

I've recently been switched meds to an anti-psychotic and i have managed to sleep way more the past 2 weeks than I have for well over a year, although not primarily on it for sleep for other stuff. Anyway, it isn't supposed to be addictive and can be used long term unlike benzos. Perhaps you could ask your drs re something similar as it is becoming more common to use some of the APs off label so to speak.

Hi Diazepan is addictive and should never be given to those with personality disorders. I really, really like it but thats not a good thing.

As far as I understand it, diazepam is a anti-anxiety and mild sedative and temazepam is a sleeping tablet.

I am on Temazepam and it renders me unable to walk when it has taken full effect, so you would have been prescribed it, as said for sleep. Diazepam is a relaxant more than anything, and can be taken at any time of the day.

ps, it is highly addictive, so take it as little as possible. I use it to reset my sleep pattern or get one good nights sleep, and I have been advised not to take it more than 3 nights in a row. However sometimes you will be prescribed a weeks worth to take then see how it goes. I personally found it would be hard to sleep after having it solidly for a week.

same here. lorazepam worked best for me too.
It has a more rapid onset of action that the other 2 though so makes sense.
