CRB check 'missing person'

I ran away from hospital in 2003 twice, and each time they called the police and I was a 'missing person'. I went back voluntarily in the end both times, same day as I ran away.

I wasn't on a section, it was a complicated situation, but basically, I was in as a voluntary patient, but they said if I left I'd be sectioned, so I was trapped there.

I'm having a CRB check soon to be a breastfeeding councellor (so working with babies), will this come up? Will it matter?

I've been on a section 136 and it came up on my enhanced CRB check and did cause me to lose my my part time job as a healthcare assistant job.

You should check whether you are getting a standard CRB check or an enhanced CRB check.

A section 136 will not come up on a standard one.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I wasn't on a section... I just ran away and became a missing person.

I have no idea if it's enhanced or standard - how do I find out? Without looking suspicious by asking?

They will tell you if they need a standard or enhanced CRB check, because you have to contact the CRB office yourself. Well, at least that's what I had to do.

Being missing won't show up. If you have been sectioned, it will show on an enhanced CRB check, which since you are looking to work with children is the type you may well need to get depending on the type of work you are looking to do. Whether you have to get it yourself or whether the organisation will depends on their size, either way you will be required to fill in a form with details such as NI number and passport number et al (Sorry, I have worked in HR department where we dealt with them)

Best place to check is http://www.crb.gov.uk/Default.aspx?page=406
where I found the following:

"Enhanced CRB Check
Also referred to as an Enhanced Disclosure. These are for posts that involve a far greater degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults. In general the type of work will involve regularly caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of such people. Examples include a Teacher, Scout or Guide leader. Enhanced checks are also issued for certain statutory purposes such as gaming and lottery licences.

This level of check involves an additional level of check to those carried out for the Standard CRB check - a check on local police records. Where local police records contain additional information that may be relevant to the post the applicant is being considered for, the Chief Officer of police may release information for inclusion in an Enhanced check. Exceptionally, and in a very small number of circumstances (typically to protect the integrity of current police investigations), additional information may be sent under separate cover to the Countersignatory and should not be revealed to the applicant."

From what you have said, nothing should show up on it and it should not cause you any issues.

I guess if your working with babies it will be enhanced.
I have had an enhanced one done and section 136 was put in it but NOT missing person. And I have been missing more times than I care to try and count!
So you should be absolutly fine. :)

My section 136 probably goes into lovely detail about how I was "a risk to myself and others"...isn't British Law just wonderful?
